"Mr Inbetween" is a half-hour comedy series inspired by the cult film "The Magician" and centers around Ray Shoesmith. Juggling a relationship, parental responsibilities, friendships and a sick brother while earning a living would be difficult for anyone, but it's particularly difficult for Ray since he's a criminal for hire. Ray "takes care of people" -- collecting debts, relieving them of drugs and guns, and often taking care of them on a more permanent basis. Ray demands respect and does not tolerate it when someone disregards his very clear code of ethics.

Graeme Blundell The Australian Ryan's writing is crisp and taut - there's no sense that like many writers working in the crime genre he is learning what the story is as he is telling it, that breadcrumbs are leading him along. He is as abrupt and obdurate as his leading man. Jun 18, 2021 Full Review Tom Ryan The Age (Australia) Ryan's marvelous performance provides the glue that holds everything together. His character is a callous killer for hire, but, without smoothing out any of the rough edges, the actor makes you care about him Jun 16, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Slick R I watched all 3 seasons in one week. Other than episode 1 and the last couple episodes, season 3 is a kind of a snooze fest. It focuses more on his relationships than doing jobs. If I was in Ray's line of work I would not leave the house without at least two HKs with four elephant mags on my belt and a fully loaded AR in the trunk... But I think he's over it and the guilt starts catching up to him so in my opinion I think he starts not caring if he dies... But his daughter is his whole world so that's what keeps him in line and being "careful". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review gordon p It's called a "Comedy" it is not, it's dark, thought provoking on many levels, the "Hit Man' with a heart of Gold. it is not! It is well written, the dialogue is brilliant, and banal at the same time. A complex story well told, though not through "Rose coloured glasses" Ray for all his faults and shortcomings, has you rooting for him, as you start to see the world through his jaundiced eyes. it's a 10 out of ten from me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/17/25 Full Review Shaun R One of the very best series. Outstanding in how it seamlessly combines genuinely funny moments with moments of tragedy and violence. A great character who is realistically casual yet deadly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/25 Full Review Andrew H So sad that there will be no more but the way the characters arc across the three series I can see why it had to be that way. Brilliant. Hope to see more from Scott Ryan soon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/25 Full Review Tim H Stunning series of shows led my main character Ray Shoesmith. A laconic fellow with a stick of precise dynamite sitting inside waiting for ignition. His travails through the labyrinth of the smouldering criminal world are not necessarily pretty but always amusing lighting up the karma of revenge in shades of just desserts to questionable but just over the criminal justification line. Ray exhibits strong social values giving the viewer illicit support for his full throttle actions in a wry manner of dark comedy. A unique series with well cast support actors doing a sterling job of upholding the ethos embedded in this criminal underworld. Not for the children. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/20/24 Full Review Shaka T Coulda shoulda epitomizes the series' magnetism. The dialog with the alpha of the rival group was extraordinary writing showcased by outstanding acting - could shoulda been friends/associates/guild members.
