Renowned crisis and hostage negotiator Eric Beaumont employs insight into human behavior to deal with challenging kidnap and ransom cases, refusing to ever resort to violence, even when faced with the world's most dangerous criminals. While his ability to manipulate sets him above others in his field, it often causes issues in his personal and professional relationships. Beaumont's team includes psych-profiler Oliver Yates, ex-cop Zara Hallam and aspiring investigator Maxine Carlson. "Ransom" is based on the experiences of real-life crisis negotiator Laurent Combalbert and his partner, Marwan Mery.

Chancellor Agard Entertainment Weekly Lack of energy is a problem for this show. It's missing that electricity that makes investing in yet another great man procedural worth it. Rated: C+ Jan 10, 2017 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter I never shook the feeling that I was watching something that, from cast to the overall aesthetic, we weren't meant to see on American network TV, except for maybe in the summer when [better] Canadian productions... have thrived. Jan 3, 2017 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times Its premise is built for adrenaline-rush moments, not for the long haul. Jan 3, 2017 Full Review Sr. Rose Pacatte National Catholic Reporter It's the best show you aren't watching. Don't let it go. May 26, 2017 Full Review Laura Hurley CinemaBlend The series can boast a unique premise and a promising cast, but the pilot falls short of delivering a truly compelling hour of television... a lot may need to change if Ransom is to have a long future at CBS. Rated: 2/5 Jan 5, 2017 Full Review Michael Ahr Den of Geek With a ton of shows out there just like it, the trick will be in getting those who already have full TV schedules to make room for a series that doesn't immediately stand out from the crowd. Audience Member Best new show on T V. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Good crime show without being to hard core real life. Time will tell if the writers can take the opportunity here and develop this show into a long term series. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Generic, full of cliches and completely unrealistic story lines. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Very weak pilot. It didn't catch my attention. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member What a horrible show and complete ripoff of Bull. Just dumb.
