Upon his return to England after fighting alongside King Richard in the Third Crusade, Robin Hood's pursuit of justice and romance are hampered by handsome Sir Guy of Gisborne, the sheriff's second-in-command, who is equal parts brutal and ambitious. Robin's plight is made even more serious when the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham declares him an outlaw, forcing Robin to take refuge in nearby Sherwood Forest, where he assembles a band of companions that include his former manservant, Much, along with Little John and Allan A Dale.

Brian Lowry Variety The effort to create a slightly hip, next-gen bow-slinger never quite coalesces, perhaps because the tone is so uneven. Oct 2, 2018 Full Review John Plunkett Guardian The opening episode takes a while to warm up -- it's a scene setter -- but there is plenty of action in a swashbuckling finale. Oct 2, 2018 Full Review Danny Graydon Empire Magazine It's a fair effort, but the flaws in these opening six episodes are numerous and grating. Rated: 2/5 Oct 2, 2018 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette This new Robin Hood succeeds thanks to a strong cast of veterans and newcomers. As the Sheriff, Allen brings a sadistic glee to his part, and as Robin, Armstrong offers a nice mix of cheeky bravado and an earnest desire to do good. Oct 2, 2018 Full Review Gloria Goodale Christian Science Monitor This really is a Robin of Locksley for the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon generation, where the true sex appeal is in the Zen-like wisdom and zingy swordplay of the ridiculously youthful (but charming) star, Jonas Armstrong. Rated: A Oct 2, 2018 Full Review Adam DiLeo IGN Movies This appears to be the BBC's answer to Joss Whedon shows and there's just no getting around the fact that it's basically built for adolescents, not grown ups, as evidenced by the ludicrous action sequences. CK B Re-watched Seasons 1 and 2 in its entirety recently (17 years since first airing!) and Jonas Armstrong, Sam Houghton and gang are still just as charming, entertaining, humourous and binge worths as ever. Really hope to see another major show with Jonas Armstrong in leading role again soon - he's an incredibly talented and committed actor, and I've picked up on dozens of nuances in his acting that I'd missed the first time I'd watched the series. Same goes for the other cast members. If you love Richard Armstrong or Keith Allan, plenty of air time for these actors too. Lucy Griffiths' charm as Lady Marion is present as ever. There are some weaker scenes and story lines but the better ones quickly shine through. Highly recommend for some light entertainment, especially if you're recovering from a flu- will definitely cheer you up! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/05/23 Full Review Nova R Deserves way more than 50%, one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. The acting, music and story are all amazing. Series 1 has 1 or 2 weak episodes but makes up for it with the rest of the series, Series 2 and 3 are just amazing pretty much the whole way through Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Best adaptation of Robin Hood's legend. A must-see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member How the hell did this abomination ever get made? Robin Hood as a character is fantastic but this is just unwatchable! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member As I am watching Robin Hood again it is far better , the things I missed from the first time I saw this series. This is a 5 star rating tv series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Disappointing. Ridiculous story lines. Could have been much better with a little bit more competence. Terrible directing . It's rather a comedy that adventure. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
