David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle Not to put too fine a point on it, but what RocketJump is doing is basically everything Hollywood film studios and network TV are not. To which we just have to say, don't ever change. Rated: 3/4 Nov 30, 2015 Full Review Emily Ashby Common Sense Media Behind-the-scenes glimpse at making films is OK for teens. Rated: 3/5 Jan 12, 2016 Full Review Merrill Barr Forbes Could truly grow into something many will realize the world needed. For now, though, it's starting off right with its fist two episodes and shows every sign of being able to continue the trend throughout the cource of its first season. Dec 18, 2015 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The final 1/4 is devoted to the premiere of the completed "High Plains Drifter," which goes on a bit too long but also features some pretty amazing scenes -- rap music in a Western is surprisingly effective -- and hilariously over-the-top special effects. Audience Member RocketJump: The Show is a goofy, laid-back portrayal of what makes filmmaking so fun, but it also manages to take an honest look at how serious issues like anxiety, racism, and differences of opinion make the field so difficult. As a video producer and student of film, the enthusiasm in the show rekindles my passion for videography that was burned out in study. The hilarity of the process of creating absurd, comedic short films, and the surprisingly high quality of the films themselves, make RJ:TS a much more entertaining series than I bargained for. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Rocket Jump the Show was everything I was waiting for in a show. From fun shorts to in depth looks at what goes on behind the camera. By far their biggest achievement is the behind the scenes, where you meet all the lovable people and experience every problem they have to overcome. The shorts on the other hand fall short in some ways. The writing feels lazy, the acting at times feels over exaggerated, and some jokes come off awkward. Besides all that, most of the shorts are pretty fun and enjoyable. There's an abundance of memorable scenes and jaw dropping moments. It's mainly a classic underdog story about how RocketJump has to conquer the challenge of making a show with a supposedly low budget. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A mix matched failure of half hearted aimless nonsense. Show after show of shorts that fail to impress anyone but the makers of these videos. The people that make the videos seem like they have fun making them and are seemingly are cool people, the videos just seem like half thoughts and boring stories. It is some sort of miracle that they get so many views on you tube, I can only explain it by millions of viewers being bored. These shorts have horrible plots, make little sense, remind me of teenagers who stole their parents camera not seasoned film makers. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Episode 1 ------------- Long time freddiew & rocketjump fan, so I'm really really glad they're doing this. I loved the behind the scenes, meeting the crew, seeing freddie and his partners in action, both filiming in discussing. I love seeing how an idea turns into a story, and how compromises need to be made. I loved learning more about how everyone sees the filming process. It was all interesting and extremely enticing. However, the short itself was only mediocre. Though there were a few stunning scenes that are burnt into my mind (in particular, when the horses start running), and while I'm very impressed by all the different shots and effects they were able put together, the storyline just didn't do it for me. I found it amusing, in particular the scene when they leave the bar, but something is missing. The crew is very talented, but it is still not "TV" quality. That being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the other shorts turn out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
