Kimberly Potts New York Magazine/Vulture One of the show's last gleefully funny episodes unfolds after Roseanne finds a bag of weed in the basement... For viewers, it's one of the last great Roseanne installments. Mar 5, 2019 Full Review Tim Gray Variety You love her or you hate her, but even her most vehement non-fans would have to admit that Roseanne is a great series. Jan 11, 2018 Full Review Genevieve Koski AV Club "Lies My Father Told Me" is a dramatic showcase for Goodman, as Dan is forced to re-evaluate his parents' troubled marriage through the lens of his mom's mental illness. Nov 3, 2017 Full Review Joe Reid Decider In a sea of witless weed jokes, though, Roseanne did it the best, and it's been over twenty years and that's still the case. Jackson87 A Roseanne's sixth season is an outstanding display of the show's ability to blend humor, heart, and societal commentary into a package that remains as relevant today as it was when it first aired. From the opening moments of the season premiere, it's clear that Roseanne is firing on all cylinders, delivering some of the most memorable moments in the show's history. One of the most impressive aspects of the sixth season is its ability to balance the show's humor with its more serious themes. While the show is often remembered for its witty one-liners and zany situations, it also tackles weighty issues with intelligence and sensitivity. Whether it's Darlene's struggle with depression or the Conners' financial struggles, the show never shies away from the harsh realities of life. One of the standout episodes of the season is "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which explores the complicated issue of homosexuality in the military. The episode is both funny and poignant, providing a thoughtful examination of a contentious issue that was at the forefront of American politics at the time. But while the show is unafraid to tackle serious topics, it never loses its sense of humor. Some of the funniest moments of the season come from the Conners' attempts to make ends meet, from Dan's ill-fated foray into freelance construction to Roseanne's stint as a telemarketer. The show's irreverent sense of humor is on full display, making for some of the most memorable moments of the series. Of course, the heart of the show is the Conner family themselves, and the sixth season sees them at their best. Roseanne and Dan continue to be one of the most realistic and loving couples on television, and their interactions with their children are both heartwarming and hilarious. Meanwhile, Darlene and Becky continue to grow into adulthood, facing new challenges and finding their own paths in life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
