This ensemble comedy follows some single parents as they lean on each other to help raise their 7-year-old kids and maintain some kind of personal lives outside of parenthood. When the parents in the group meet Will, a 30-something guy who's been so focused on raising his daughter that he's lost sight of who he is as a man, they see just how far down the rabbit hole of PTA, parenting and princesses he has gone. The friends decide to band together to get him out in the dating world and make him realize that being a great parent doesn't mean sacrificing everything about his own identity.

Critics Consensus

While the jokes can be a little juvenile, Single Parents earns brownie points for a likable cast and a funny focus on parental struggles.

Ben Travers IndieWire Single Parents is an ensemble, and one that should get better, whether it embraces the formula or breaks it. Rated: B Sep 26, 2018 Full Review Lorraine Ali Los Angeles Times Single Parents takes its cues from the network's other family comedies, such as black-ish, but the jokes are too sophomoric to come close to the brilliance and humor of that award-winning show or the Emmy-amassing Modern Family. Sep 26, 2018 Full Review Tim Goodman The Hollywood Reporter Single Parents feels like a comedy that goes for simple snark and believes it's a little more clever than it really is, but then had a bunch of network notes stuck to it about softening those right angles. Sep 26, 2018 Full Review Allison Nichols Tell-Tale TV It's over the top but in the best way possible. Rated: 5/5 Oct 3, 2019 Full Review Funmi Sunmonu Add This To Your List Skip it. annie ann-magritt b So relatable and In 2020 it's been a lifesaver to have something so positive and funny to keep life going Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of my favorite shows, it's such a comfort show and I just finished the series finale. I'm absolutely heartbroken, it was such a good show and didn't deserve to end so quickly, especially ending with such a cliffhanger. I'll admit, it's obviously not perfect, but I often find myself binging it again and again. It's a wonderful family show as well, something that's great for both parents and children. I'm really disappointed that ABC decided to chop it. It could've gone on for at least one more season. The show is amazing and it has a huge rewatchability factor, so I'm desperately hoping that Hulu or some other service steps up to save it. Every single person in the cast does an amazing job in their role, and while I can agree it is at times cheesy and artificial, overall the great moments of the show outweigh the lackluster ones. It's a definite watch for anyone of any age, and it's sad to see it go so soon. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Seems like Taran could do better then this with his abilities. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm really trying to like the show. I really like the adult actors, but the biggest distraction is Rory.. I fast forward all of his scenes. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Really innovative and funny! Can't wait for Season 2. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member so funny and great acting! hope it gets renewed Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
