The animated series is not for children. In fact, its goal seems to be to offend as many as possible as it presents the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. The show has taken on Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, politicians of every stripe and self-important celebrities. Oh, and Kenny is killed in many episodes.

Emily St. James AV Club Continuing to push at the envelope has its own problems, but Parker and Stone's greatest accomplishment has always been knowing that it's an ever-shifting target. Sep 16, 2013 Full Review Donna Bowman AV Club I thought this was a frequently brilliant half-hour of television. Sep 16, 2013 Full Review Phil Dyess-Nugent AV Club "It Hits The Fan" is a very smart, funny piece of television, a worthy season opener, but it's also a calculated ratings stunt, something that was transparently intended to get people calling in to radio shows saying, "Can you believe this was on TV?!" Sep 16, 2013 Full Review Hugh Scott CinemaBlend It's horrifying and hilarious, and it's peak South Park. Jun 10, 2019 Full Review Travis Fickett IGN Movies It stands out because of the sheer audacity of incorporating just about all of the world's major religions in one silly joke.
