The animated series is not for children. In fact, its goal seems to be to offend as many as possible as it presents the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. The show has taken on Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, politicians of every stripe and self-important celebrities. Oh, and Kenny is killed in many episodes.

Critics Consensus

South Park deploys blisteringly insightful gags in its most serialized season yet -- mining thoughtful laughs from nostalgia, political correctness, and the trolling phenomenon.

John Hugar New York Magazine/Vulture While this season certainly had its moments, there were a number of flaws that kept it from reaching its full potential. Mar 12, 2019 Full Review Ben Travers IndieWire "South Park" never takes the easy route nor does it ever take it easy on anyone. For that, it's become a voice worth hearing every year, and one we'll be eager to engage with throughout Season 20. Rated: A- Oct 19, 2016 Full Review Brandon Katz Observer What is most impressive about South Park is its evolution over time. What began as a show based around entertaining toilet humor has developed into the most popular satirical voice in modern pop culture. Oct 18, 2016 Full Review Chris Longo Den of Geek Whether it's two episodes, three, or a full season, South Park has never done well by widening the scope of the series. Mar 12, 2019 Full Review Matt Miller Esquire Magazine Our real world out-South Parked South Park. The show used to be the kind of show that shocked its audience; now, it feels like we're the ones who are doing the shocking and South Park is telling us, "Hey, maybe that's too much." Nov 15, 2018 Full Review Mark Titus The Ringer South Park is still hilarious, still sharp with its commentary, and still appointment TV for me. Aug 14, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Predictable leftist dogma Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/06/24 Full Review Dionisis T A fairly short but definitely satisfying season I'd say enough trolling and a nice plot!I hope next season is worth it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Enchanted M South Park season 20 is nothing special, in fact it's practically nothing worth your time either. The only way to watch season 20 and possibly like it is by watching the whole entire season since serialization completely takes over and they try desperately to make the entire season connect and have a cohesive story that could honestly be a good one if you have the time to watch through every episode. After watching the whole season, it's not horrible but it isn't good, some of the episodes are just boring and hardly kept me engaged while some do have their solid moments. All in all, South Park really butchered the whole season as it tried to make one story and it shows that it might not be that bad of an idea to skip out entirely. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Jason M 'Member when South Park was unapologetically brutal towards everyone? Yeah... Not so much this season. They traded below-the-belt, hard hitting, gross out humor for whiny sensitivity. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that Matt and Trey had little to do with the writing for seasons 19 and 20. Haven't made it to season 21 yet. Hoping for a major course correction. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/22/23 Full Review Jcr J Not good at all. The jokes and story rushed and it was the worst season I have ever seen of South Park. The whole danish thing was okay at first but it quickly got old. The whole trolls vs danish thing was shitty and cringe to begin with. The whole mr garrison president thing was okay when it got started but its bigger flaws showed quickly when season 20 came. And don't get me started for the whole cartman vs Heidi thing. I hate everything about this season. Unfunny, rushed, terrible everything writing and plot is to. The only thing this was better than was that that pip episode. 0.9/10 easily. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Worst south park season. Member berries we're un funny, Garrison becoming President was pretty smart, but Gerald cyberbullying and making all the kids break up was absolutely a horrible decision.
