Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter For an anthology, Star Wars: Visions is remarkably consistent in its quality. There are no flat-out bad episodes in the bunch, though some are stronger than others. Oct 1, 2021 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Happily, this new series of 15- to 20-minute animated shorts produced by some of Japan's most respected anime studios is a lot more interesting than your typical blandly stylised Star Wars animation. Rated: 3/5 Sep 22, 2021 Full Review Mike Hale New York Times That "Star Wars: Visions" is, finally, more of a pleasant diversion than a really fulfilling experience isn't a factor of running time or talent. Sep 22, 2021 Full Review Lynzee Loveridge Anime News Network Given the opportunity to create a Star Wars story, many of the studios took the chance to again smash Jedi and Sith against each other with varying degrees of success, but by the end, I was begging to see anything willing to deviate from this formula. Rated: B+ Jul 19, 2023 Full Review Prahlad Srihari Firstpost Star Wars lends itself quite easily to a magical mystery tour of anime, a medium which affords a lot of freedom to experiment with form, style, and tone. Aug 8, 2022 Full Review Jessie Gender Jessie Gender YouTube Channel While most of the stories boil down to slightly different lightsaber duels, the unique visual style of each story that feels like a natural fit for Star Wars manages to transcend the flat storytelling. T B A waste of talent. You can still give artist full freedom to create canon and expand lore without doing this. These projects “safe” for Disney in regard to toxic fan backlash. No accountability necessary if it’s not actually Star Wars. It’s definitely not Star Wars. If Disney is going to do this project, create animated versions of the excellent material that is now considered “legends”. They only need to adapt stories that already exist. Try releasing all the original planned material that was created for The Clone Wars. Give that series the stories that deserve to be told they way they were meant to be. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review AK K The best star wars project ever created. The ideas were fun and well executed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/17/25 Full Review Audience Member GIVE US A RONIN STAR WARS ANIME! Seriously how cool would that series be?! Overall though some really cool episodes and some really boring ones geared towards small children. I’m hoping some of the more successful ones can be adapted into their own shows! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/24 Full Review Jane B Season 1 feels fresh and interesting with varying stories. Season 2 kinda feels all the same. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/06/24 Full Review Charlie M I love the idea, of having no limit to the stories you can tell within this galaxy. There were just hardly any interesting ideas given in this season. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/28/24 Full Review Ash P An amazing anthology of a series involving various anime studios to have a touch of Star Wars in their own style. Not perfect, which the stories are standard but still amazing by writing and pacing even for being under twenty-five minutes. For the most, you'd have to pay close enough to understand the story for each episode. Sure, the styles done by each makes each episode come to life as if it's an alternate universe of Star Wars itself. If there are episodes I find my most favorites, they would be The Twins, The Village Bride and Lop and Ocho. It's a great watch whether you're an anime fan or a Star Wars fan. 8/10.
