Ken Tucker Entertainment Weekly The Outback scenery is vibrantly spectacular, and I don't mind being goosed by the repeated hokey shots of supposedly menacing spiders. Mar 15, 2019 Full Review Steve Johnson Chicago Tribune [The] finale demonstrated what is proving to be Burnett's storytelling weakness. He is, in general, a master craftsman... But he is absolutely obsessed by the dubious idea that wilderness experience always has transformative power. Mar 15, 2019 Full Review Dalton Ross Entertainment Weekly Solid but unspectacular. Pretty predictable boot order as well. Mar 15, 2019 Full Review Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) Even though anyone who paid any attention knew it was coming, it was kind of fun to see the reaction of the contestants when they learned they'd have to wait more than five months to find out who won. Mar 15, 2019 Full Review Andrea Reiher Zap2it.com How could the show follow up the pop culture juggernaut that was Season 1? Oh, how about with some pig-killing, fire-falling, granola bar-eating, finger-wagging, cliff-diving fun in the Australian outback? Mar 14, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Joshua S This season is okay, but as a followup to Borneo, I don't think it lived up to the standards set Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/23 Full Review Mr. C With raised production and an iconic cast, "Survivor: The Australian Outback" is able to pass its predecessor while being enjoyable in its own right. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/23 Full Review Audience Member After the incredible success of the first "Survivor" installment, the challenge for show creator Mark Burnett was to concoct a repeat performance. Though markedly different from the original, "The Australian Outback" again succeeds wildly due to a set of different factors that ultimately set the show up for a long, long run. Whereas the first season was all about alliances, backstabbing, and societal/philosophical issues, Season Two was just more fun. Some examples include: -Kimmi, the spoiled vegetarian -Jerri, the "b-word" everyone loved to hate -Elisabeth and Amber, "America's Sweethearts" -Colby playing the game with integrity -Michael killing a boar but ultimately meeting a tragic exit from the competition Basically, this season showed two key "truths" of Survivor that the first season did not touch on very much (if at all): 1. Solid, positive relationships could indeed be formed between the castaways. 2. The physical aspect of the game (actually surviving on little food and unpredictable weather) is nothing to sneeze at. I consider the first two Survivor seasons to have really set the bedrock for the show that may not ever actually end (25 seasons and counting now!). Though my viewing dropped off after about season four (I felt as if the "freshness" was gone), I will always appreciate and enjoy the impact "Survivor: Australia" had on the franchise. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Far from perfect due to some predictability, Australia still has a lot to like with some genuinely interesting moments and one of the most exciting endgames.
