While on foot patrol as punishment for reckless driving, disobeying orders and personality conflicts, NYPD Detective Caitlyn "Cat" Sullivan meets cabdriver Leo Romba, a French African from Marseille. When she realizes he lied on his immigration forms, Cat decides to take advantage of the situation and offers him a deal: She will help with his immigration problem if he will drive her around the city. More than just her chauffeur, Leo becomes Cat's friend and consultant, helping her to solve cases and to uncover the mystery behind her father's murder.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

It's decent summer escapism, but Taxi Brooklyn's storylines detour too much to ring true.

Jon Caramanica New York Times [A] too glossy, too skeletal procedural. Jun 25, 2020 Full Review Mary McNamara Los Angeles Times Cat and Leo may be over-drawn, but they are new sorts of characters for broadcast TV, with the kind of chemistry that can save a show. Jun 25, 2014 Full Review Gail Pennington St. Louis Post-Dispatch It's just another police procedural, and prime time already has plenty of those. Rated: 2/4 Jun 25, 2014 Full Review Joyce Slaton Common Sense Media With a weak plot and so-so acting, Taxi Brooklyn mainly comes off as a rehash of other, better cop movies and TV shows you've seen before. Rated: 2/5 Jun 30, 2014 Full Review Brooke Cain News & Observer (Raleigh, NC) [Chyler] Leigh is almost unrecognizable in her sassy new short 'do, and unfortunately, not given much else to work with in her clichd "tough lady detective" part. Jun 25, 2014 Full Review Tom Conroy Media Life If viewers are willing to concede that things get lost in translation, Taxi Brooklyn, - or, as we would say in English, Brooklyn Taxi - has its charms. Audience Member Boring, shitty storyline, they really didn't take it serious, although the ending is intriguing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I loooved the series. However, the end was just way too much, way too ''thich''. I wouldn't have involved Romba and his son in this episode, it's just distasteful. Would like another season Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The two leads have a lot of charm and deserved something better. in fact, filmed as a comedy it might have worked. but it raises a smile for all the wrong reasons. and that ex-husband fbi bloke? jesus, he is one oily looking Herbert. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Refreshingly funny. Too bad NBC didn't give it a decent chance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review mrs g miss the show, & the chemistry Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member this is better than people give it credit for, a cute and fun show, some casting problems but Chyler and IDO are wonderful together. worth watching for the car stunts alone.
