When she appears on the doorstep of wealthy widower Maxwell Sheffield's New York home, cosmetics saleswoman Fran Fine unexpectedly gets a job as the nanny for the Broadway producer's three children, Maggie, Brighton and Grace. Fran brings her no-nonsense honesty, sharp sense of humor and "Queens logic" into the Sheffield household, helping them become a happy, healthy family -- a family that Fran eventually joins when she marries Maxwell. Also in the Sheffield household is sarcastic English butler Niles.

Greg Dawson Orlando Sentinel The writing in the show is only average... But Fran Drescher alone makes The Nanny worth a look for those who like their comedy with a dose of chutzpah. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Bethy Squires New York Magazine/Vulture Fran Fine is a character we still don't get to see enough of, even today in the Age of Golden Televisions: a likeable but flawed lady-protagonist. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Ken Tucker Entertainment Weekly Shrewdly crude, The Nanny sure ain't no Friends rip-off, and that's something of a blessing. Rated: B- Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Hal Boedeker Miami Herald A close call We like her wish the show were better. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 16, 2022 Full Review Ashley Spurgeon Nashville Scene A living, breathing, full-color cartoon, The Nanny shares DNA with I Love Lucy in more than just a zany lady protagonist. Sep 8, 2021 Full Review Erin Cunningham Refinery29 The show was, regardless of how over-the-top it may have seemed (the nasal laugh that ended all nasal laughs, those hilarious under-the-breath insults from Niles), undeniably relatable. Nicolas S Nice...CC...best lovers :3 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/06/23 Full Review Peter P One of the all time funniest comedy shows. Fran Drescher energetic performance and likeable personality, by the minute jokes and overall great chemistry between the cast makes it a pure joy to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Audience Member I'd never heard of this series until my wife mentioned seeing it years ago and wanted to see it again, I only managed 3 episodes, I genuinely cannot understand the popularity this show had, it is almost entirely devoid of humour, only the butler & youngest daughter actually had any funny lines, Frans voice is unbelievably grating and if it weren't for the painfully obvious use of canned laughter, I'd have no idea which lines were supposed to be funny, some people say they can't believe it was cancelled after only 6 seasons, I say I can't believe it made it past 1 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member My absolute favorite show! I love the Nanny so much and it brings me such comfort to watch it. I first started watching it as a child, and I have to say it gets even better as I get older. Fran Drescher is one of the best actresses and has perfect comedic timing in every scene. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Comical, exciting and well-directed ... The Nanny takes humor to the top when Fran comes into the spotlight, with all the essence and charisma that leaves anyone aware. simply perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
