A night-shift doctor at San Antonio Memorial, T.C. Callahan struggles to find the balance between saving lives and the hard reality of running a hospital. Joining him as he faces the sometimes dangerous task of running the emergency room are his best friend -- who often shoulders the unenviable job of keeping T.C. out of trouble -- former Army medic, Drew; lead physician -- and T.C.'s ex-girlfriend -- Jordan; and surgical resident, Paul. The rigors of the job may expose some personal weaknesses, but their shared drive to save their patients bonds them together in a tight-knit group.

Alan Sepinwall Uproxx The problem is that the bulk of the action and conflict are built around TC, who is a parody of a cliché of a stereotype. Jan 9, 2019 Full Review Brian Lowry Variety This Lone Star series (in more ways than one) could hardly be more forgettable. May 29, 2014 Full Review Alan Sepinwall HitFix Its hero is so obnoxiously awesome and self-righteous that I could only make it through half of the whopping eight episodes NBC sent out for review. Clare J It's straight up awful. After the 1st 8 episodes of S1, having realised the number of main characters isn't going to exceed 6 and a half, that I can only remember the names of 2 and the half (Paul) and that when one of their group dies,I don't remember him at all ("Duane"?)... I concluded that it is boring, cliched, apallingly scripted, dreadfully soundtracked and really badly acted (although the scripts and wooden direction will have given the actors little scope to stretch their craft). Also, what's with the random time updates? The only vaguely interesting aspect is that one of the actors looks like a young Richard Gere - and they're not even related. It is a little, scrappy dud...and reminds me of a Christmas tree that's dropped most of its needles before Xmas Eve. Won't be finishing S1. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Acting is good, but this series only works if you know nothing about working in healthcare. Punching colleagues, and shouting at patients would just get you sacked Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Acting not believable... At all Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a rough one. Dont get me wrong, the acting itself is decent, however, the writing is a dumpster fire rolling downhill in san francisco. The big I had was that they tried to cram a whole bunch of drama and events in such a short time frame. Events that should have been drawn out through a whole season play out in one or two episodes. They definitely learned to space it out a bit in season 2 and later on, but season 1? Official diagnosis: Excessive Pilot season syndrome Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Pathetic writing. Cliched scenarios. Not even worth watching as background noise. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member honestly my fav show atm Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
