The Split is an incisive exploration of gender politics, mined from terrific performances and tersely dramatic plotting.

Sean O'Grady Independent (UK) This sickly scene, overlaid with some gratuitous soppy music, was far more uncomfortable to watch than any of the many episodes of past, current and prospective marital betrayal that made up the rest of the show. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Lucy Mangan Guardian It's the hardest and most vital kind of dialogue and Morgan is a master of it. It makes you realise what we're missing almost all the rest of the time on TV. Rated: 5/5 Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) [Writter] Morgan's dialogue is never less than brilliant...but her plot points can be a little crashing. Jun 5, 2018 Full Review Eleanor Bley Griffiths Radio Times Having begun my relationship with The Split in a spirit of rose-tinted optimism and delight, rushing headlong into romance with Nicola Walker's acting abilities and Stephen Mangan's comic timing, I am sorry to report that the love affair is over. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Alison de Souza The Straits Times (Singapore) It is the finely drawn portrait of fraught family ties that makes the show. They also make up for its weaknesses, which include patches of uninspired dialogue. Rated: 3/5 Jun 15, 2018 Full Review Camilla Long Sunday Times (UK) [Writter Abi] Morgan nervously ladles on plotline after plotline, each less interesting than the last. T B Outstanding show that follows a family of lawyers, covering both the very interesting cases their family and two different firms handle while presenting them as whole individuals along with their personal their lives-----which The Split does just as great a job with that also. Nicola Walker is simply incredible. I did not know about her until seeing this show--------> I raced to watch other shows she has been in also....because she is THAT GOOD. (I recommend her in Unforgotten also!! And River ) The rest of the cast is excellent and very well matched to their roles. It's hard to find a really well written, intelligent shows that are beautifully shot, that are full of heart and depict realistic scenarios. Find and watch this show, you won't regret it at all. It was written by designed for just 3 seasons, so it was NOT a cancelled show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/23 Full Review lilly g This show is such an incredible, refreshing take on family, love, marriage, and the trials / rewards of life. There isn't a villain and no character is without their flaws. By the end of episode one, you're invested and it's a slow, emotional progression with smiles and a few tears throughout. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Diane M Am addicted to this show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/22 Full Review Audience Member The best drama series I've watched in years. Superb acting, characters, dialogue. So much depth yet easy to watch. The Brits do it better. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Well acted and directed. Great story line with family tensions and conflicts running throughout. Good drama with lots of tugging at heart strings. Nikola Walker is excellent as usual. The support cast is terrific, funny and poignant. Well done all round. Looking forward to a second season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Highly addictive once you start.
