BBC Staff BBC.com It was the style and the characterization of The Young Ones, rather than its stories,... Never before had violence of such degree, squalor, physical foulness, blood, sex and death, all been used as such a regular part of a flagship comedy programme. Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Jeff Robson iNews.co.uk With Alexei Sayle's (very) random interjections as their landlord and his extended family added in, the result was -- like most of the great sitcoms -- two drum-tight series, where some of the best moments were more accident than design. Audience Member 2022 and it's not even in the realm of consideration to watch. While it got a handful of chuckles out of me, the absurdist isn't bad in itself but it is badly acted and quite intolerable. It's also a product of it's time to the 'edge' to it feels quite standard. Maybe in a few years when more comedians get cancelled, I'll return to this and see how it fares but here and now it's not great. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Not quite as fresh but effectively refined, Season 2 of The Young Ones is every bit as good as its preceding season, not only pushing abstract absurdist comedy in a way almost never done before, but continuing to push the envelope of what society had, at the time, deemed acceptable by societal moral standards. The Young Ones was already more or less a miniature revolution in television, and Season 2 ups the ante in regards to sheer insanity, involving one joke of a girl that Mike was trying to seduce learning it was seconds to Midnight mere seconds before turning into a pumpkin.. Yeah, it's as silly and crazy as I make it sound, and it's very funny as well. The characters are still excellent, the performances still strong and the increase is disregard to reality helps to aid the show rather than hinder it. If you liked the first Season this second Season is absolutely worth it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
