Tom Ryan The Age (Australia) As we watch the past unfold, it reminds us, we're also watching tomorrow being born; and we watch today with an understanding of where it came from. All of this is thoroughly engrossing: lyrical, moving, and totally irresistible. Nov 11, 2020 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com Brown was, as usual, sensational, as Randall dealt with issues that he has previously been reluctant to discuss... The mix of micro and macro most successfully collided within that character, offering a promising foundation for the season to come. Oct 28, 2020 Full Review Maggie Fremont New York Magazine/Vulture All of this is to say that watching the Pearsons go through normal Pearson problems, on top of watching them go through very real and very raw problems, provided two extremely depressing hours of television. Rated: 3/5 Oct 28, 2020 Full Review Matt Roush TV Insider The Pearsons aren't going away until 2022, but we've already got separation anxiety. TV's first family of emotional turmoil has lost none of its ability to surprise - and jerk tears. Jan 3, 2022 Full Review Alci Rengifo Entertainment Voice Yet putting aside these important plot developments, what is most impressive about this return of "This Is Us" is its mature way of commenting on the world to which it returns. It's the perfect show to do so. Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It's a good episode, notwithstanding the far-fetched shocker, and as far as TV goes, having the highest-rated network drama back is the closest thing to normal we've experienced in months. Hailey L Unfortunately this is not my favorite season. This season is boring and trying to be too political too quickly. The topics of the season are important but all at once seems like they’re just forcing it. The season is boring and I’m contemplating not finishing the show because it’s hard to push through. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Gevorg H Tess was becoming more and more annoying, pretty sure thanks to her new acquaintance. Otherwise it was almost great season as always. Hope finale flashforward will have pretty good explanation and won't come off as twist for the sake of a twist. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Jay S I usually don't watch shows like this but was convinced that it was good. And so I did and so far, seasons 1-3 are very good storytelling. Season 4 was okay but season 5, Oh Marone! Horrible, just horrible. It's obvious to see the writers inner thoughts and intentions with the characters. It's become a nonstop parade of racial and political themes that honestly, is not what I want to watch when turning on the TV to see good TV. As of now, Kate is a one dimensional, or should I say 4 dimensional, character thats only issue is her weight. It's so boring now. She's made no progress other than getting pregnant (there's another complaint here; why so many pregnancies?). Kevin is a douche with a supposed heart of gold but meh, it's hardly believable. And Randal, the shows biggest offender, comes off as such an ungrateful asshole. Dude's only problem is that he doesn't see himself as being "black black" and neither does anyone else, for that matter. I should've followed my gut and seen that shows like this, aren't made for me and that's ok. Hopefully someone else enjoyed this show. It has its good parts but the cons definitely outweigh the pros. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/21/22 Full Review Audience Member This season is still endearing thanks to the good performances and some very well written and deep episodes, but others do not add anything to the plot that involves the whole series and nothing is added to the plot that is located in the future of the characters, just as the issue of the pandemic is not deepened, which was an event that paralyzed the world, I think it was important to talk more about it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review richard d Well, wasn't bad, but wasn't good as well. I hate not liking this season because the show is so good, literally the best one I've ever watched, but this season was just not like the other ones. I mean, it wasn't bad, and I cried like expected, but mixing it with real life made no sense. I always imagine, when shows with famous actors mix the show's world with real life, where are those famous actors in the real life world? Makes no sense. It was really sad too, but that I was expecting that. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Look. I get that people don't want to watch Covid while living Covid. But the reality is, the character arcs, their progression, and the overall themes continue to push forward in meaningful and wonderful ways.
