Nova Scotia's trailer parks are colorful thanks to residents Ricky, Bubbles and Julian. Together, they plan mad capers, usually get-rich-quick schemes, with plenty of screw-ups along the way. They're constantly being hunted by their former trailer park supervisor, Jim Lahey, and his perpetually shirtless, pot-belled assistant, Randy. There are a host of other quirky characters that make up this zany locale of below-income characters in this Canadian mockumentary series that has spawned two feature films.

Audience Member netflix's trailer park boys content may look the same, but is not made with the same integrity. many scenes are just far too slow and long, all filler, and very poorly acted and edited whereas earlier seasons of the show obviously cut out the lulls in the improvisation. all of the raw material is still there, but it's not put together in a way that respects the viewer's time or interest. the show has always had arguments, but many of them in this new season are actually pointless, drawn out, and bad takes at that. it seems that netflix wants to use every second of footage they film even with such consistently low overhead costs for the series having always allowed it to arrive at a more concise and likeable product prior to netflix's involvement. newly added characters are obnoxious and unlikeable (ricky's new gf makes me hit ff every time she opens her mouth because she isn't funny at all and is very abrasive) whereas everyone in the past had some kind of draw to them, and besides that appear to have been chosen for attractiveness instead of the sort of grassroots casting methods that tpb has always used (reminder, bubbles used to be part of the crew and they cast him as soon as he put the silly glasses on as a joke, many other cast members were there from the beginning as friends and family of the creators, and stayed for decades) i'm even noticing that the directors appear to have told barb to scream more. netflix loves adding unnecessary conflict to their products because it's filler that less aware viewers will think is dramatic, and i find it manipulative and immoral of them. right off the bat there is a scene more than 5 minutes long of ricky explaining to trin, bubs, and julian about his weed grow being robbed. the conversation had 45 seconds worth of content and every line spoken in it was in a previous episode, but in a cheap and self plagiarizing manner, not their usual cyclical callbacks. that just really throws me off and it feels to me that netflix is pulling their usual bs of stress testing how low of production quality the audience will put up with every few scenes i'm finding something worse. i will keep trying with these new eps but i have never finished a season of them for all of the above reasons.
