"Eastbound & Down" creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill team again for a dark comedy series -- no surprise there! -- that may place high school administrators in a wholly different light. McBride and Walton Goggins co-star as vice principals at North Jackson High School, which becomes ground zero for a major power struggle when the principal retires. The rival administrators set their sights on the vacated top spot -- only to see English teacher Dr. Belinda Brown enter the picture. Putting their mutual hate aside, the bitter antagonists form an unholy alliance to bring down the outsider by any means necessary.

Critics Consensus

Danny McBride and Walton Goggins return to settle unfinished business in a Vice Principals season two that is both obscenely funny and more satisfying than its predecessor.

Jesse David Fox New York Magazine/Vulture After seeing much of Vice Principals season two, which was entirely directed by David Gordon Green instead of Hill, who directed season one, I can say it's definitely worth it. Nov 28, 2017 Full Review Darren Franich Entertainment Weekly I struggled with Vice Principals, but I did love it. Rated: B- Nov 13, 2017 Full Review Marc Silver Washington Post Mr. Gamby, we're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you. Oct 20, 2017 Full Review Dominick Suzanne-Mayer Consequence It's the sort of comedy that only appreciates based on its smaller character moments. Feb 14, 2018 Full Review Scott Wampler Birth.Movies.Death. There's not much I didn't love in this episode, honestly. Oct 20, 2017 Full Review Nick Harley Den of Geek As Russell says, Gamby has been a caged beast and now he's back in his jungle. Students and faculty should both be scared. Jamie K A perfect close to a duo and a show that explored the wildest school year even conceived, with a continuously funny, outrageous and weirdly sweet story following the aftermath of season 1's cliffhanger. This 2 season story not only continued to keep its writing and characters as consistently sharp and interesting throughout but manages to blend is uniquely blunt humour across both season making for a show that kept my giggling through almost every episode and on the edge of my seat at every twist and turn that culminated in a weirdly bittersweet conclusion. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/25 Full Review David W Vice Principals redeems the entire series with a strong second season that improves character likeability, builds on a Season 1 cliffhanger, and delivers the twists and surprises the creative team is known for. It’s a great package overall and a great improvement on the first season. I would definitely watch this season, and series, again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Audience Member This season was pure chaos. Everything about it was genuinely entertaining and awkward, and everything in between. That final episode was beautiful, great way to cap off the series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Cody B GOGGINS!!!!!! He is perfect! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/24 Full Review Affleberry F I little slower paced than the 1st season, & much heavier in its story. Still consistent with the laughs though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Anthony M Danny McBride strikes gold again. Non stop comedy with suspense. What an amazing and well written series!
