Dazzling computer animation highlights this six-hour "speculative documentary" following the lives of dinosaurs from their beginning to their zenith -- and their eventual decline during the Cretaceous period. The computer-generated imagery and animatronics used in the series show dinosaurs in a way you would expect to see in a feature film.

Nancy Banks-Smith Guardian Walking with Dinosaurs is good fun in a carnivorous kind of way. Visually, it's a bobby dazzler. Feb 25, 2020 Full Review John Maynard Washington Post An intoxicating concoction... that provides a spine-tingling and sometimes gruesome history of the legendary creatures. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review James Gorman New York Times The marriage of dinosaurs and nature television makes perfect sense... In this show everything is familiar, and not. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Terry Kelleher People Magazine This documentary is guaranteed to have viewers marveling, "How'd they do that?" Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Marc Calderaro PopMatters All the giants of our childhood fantasies are beautifully rendered and move within the live-action environments as realistically as can be hoped. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review IGN Staff IGN Movies The series is well narrated by Kenneth Branagh, and is definitely not just for dino-nerds out there. After 5 minutes, you are kind of hooked, and wonder what is going to happen to the baby utahraptor, or if the iguanadon will ever get lucky. Rated: 9/10 Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Gemma B I wached it when I was 8 in netflix....they deleted walking with dinosarus kn netflix 10 years later got the dvds and love it l.o.v.e it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Chanr3y k Despite it having many inaccuracies, if it wasn't for this, I would've never gotten into dinosaurs, and thanks to this miniseries I still love these beautiful animals to this day. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/23 Full Review MrJurassic This series is at very minimum the standard for a beautifully made Dinosaur documentary series, rivaling modern day documentaries. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/15/22 Full Review j f This was hailed as masterpiece of CGI when it first aired, which I've never quite understood – at no point do the animals featured look anywhere near as realistic as those in Jurassic Park, which came out earlier. Some of them look incorrect regardless of the quality of the CGI – the dromaeosaurs lack feathers, and the T. rex is all wrong. That said, this series is an enjoyable attempt to show dinosaurs as actual animals, just living their lives in their natural habitats. It's presented as a natural history documentary of the type you might see about today's species. Some aspects are a little outdated now, and some were speculative even at the time, but it does a good job of taking you through the age of the dinosaurs, from their first appearance to their extinction. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my favourite pieces of media ever created, such an artwork. It just feels like a real nature documentary set in prehistoric times.
