Birthday: Sep 3, 1920

Birthplace: New York, New York, USA

Veteran Washington DC broadcaster, announcer and the voice of Smokey the Bear in a long-running series of public service commercials. Weaver was a fixture of DC radio for 50 years. He was most popular in partnership with Frank Harden as Harden and Weaver; they ruled the airwaves when AM radio was king and remained competitive even in recent years with the rise of FM. Weaver had a great talent for creating imaginary characters that were most notable for their fearless corniness. Harden and Weaver were adored by many for their comfortably old-fashioned lack of polish.
