Morten Tyldum
Norwegian director Morten Tyldum studied at New York's School of Visual Arts where he discovered a love of film. Returning to Norway, his first professional jobs included directing and editing music videos, shorts, adverts and television series, including Norwegian youth program "U" (NRK). His debut feature "Buddy" (2003), a drama based on the perils of fame, was a critical and commercial success within Norway. Feeding into an international appetite for 'Nordic Noir' fuelled by the success of Stieg Larsson's "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy and the likes of "The Killing" (aka "Forbrydelsen," DR1 2007-2012), Tyldum's next film was a dark mystery, "Fallen Angels" (2008), based on Gunnar Staalesen's novel. Adapting the successful book by crime writer Jo Nesbø, his subsequent project, "Headhunters" (2008), became Norway's highest grossing film to date. The complex and intelligently plotted heist movie also brought Tyldum's talent to the attention of an international audience on a wider scale. He made his English language debut with "The Imitation Game" (2014), a biopic based on the life of mathematician Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) whose work was key to deciphering the enigma code machine used by Nazi Germany during World War II, yet who was charged with a crime by the British government for his homosexuality.
