Richard Hartley

As a musician, Richard Hartley's entertaining and creative music was in a variety of Hollywood productions. Hartley began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like "Galileo" (1974) with Topol, the Glenda Jackson dramedy "The Romantic Englishwoman" (1975) and the action picture "Aces High" (1977) with Malcolm McDowell. His music also appeared in "The Lady Vanishes" (1979) and "Bad Timing" (1980) with Art Garfunkel. In the eighties and the nineties, Hartley's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like the Anthony Hopkins drama "The Good Father" (1987), the drama "Wild Things" (1988) with Karen Young and the comedic adaptation "Consuming Passions" (1988) with Vanessa Redgrave. His work was also in the Trevor Eve crime flick "Black Easter" (1995). Hartley's music was also featured in the dramatic adaptation "The Designated Mourner" (1997) with Miranda Richardson, the dramatic adaptation "The Van" (1997) with Colm Meaney and "Rough Magic" (1997). His music was also featured in the Michelle Pfeiffer dramatic adaptation "A Thousand Acres" (1997) and the David Duchovny crime feature "Playing God" (1997). Hartley most recently worked on "Great Expectations" (2013). Hartley won an Outstanding Music Composition For a Miniseries or a Movie (Dramatic Underscore) Primetime Emmy Award for "Alice in Wonderland" in 1999. Hartley was nominated for an Outstanding Music Composition For a Miniseries, Movie or a Special Primetime Emmy Award for "Don Quixote" in 2000.
