Funnyman Sean Lock first gained notice in a supporting role for the comedic duo of Rob Newman and David Baddiel on their TV show "Newman and Baddiel in Pieces" in the early '90s. He made a name for himself on the stand up circuit and with several popular radio shows, including "15 Minutes of Misery," which was adapted into the cult TV sitcom "15 Storeys High" where he played Vince, a somewhat miserable man with an equally unfortunate flatmate living in a nondescript tower block. Following that show's brief, but successful run he landed a hosting gig on the 2006 comedic talk show "TV Heaven, Telly Hell," a program in which he interviewed celebrities about their worst show business moments. He is also a frequent panelist on popular quiz shows such as the survey-oriented "8 Out of 10 Cats," where he was a regular, and "QI," the idiosyncratic panel program where points are awarded for interesting answers to obscure questions. Lock also has a number of screenwriting credits, having written for the comedies "Is it Bill Bailey?" and "Never Mind the Buzzcocks," as well as TV documentaries, and in a departure, the dramatic adaptation of an Emile Zola novel, "This Filthy Earth." Sean Lock died on August 18, 2021 at the age of 59.
