Rob Nelson Village Voice The most receptive audience will mainly be enlightened to know that you can make a movie as thoroughly unprofessional as this one and still get it released in 3,000 theaters. Aug 27, 2009 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader Despite the expository speeches draped over this like birthday bunting, the story remains largely incomprehensible. Mar 6, 2007 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Some spectacular action, though obviously digital: free of risk, free of drama. Rated: 2/5 Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine Ultraviolet is short, confusing, visually murky, and dramatically underwhelming. It is not, by any reasonable measure, a good film. Rated: 3/10 Apr 8, 2021 Full Review Alberto Abuín Espinof Milla Jovovich is as amazing as you expect, but her participation in this style of films, which seem all the same, begins to tire. [Full Review in Spanish] Jun 28, 2019 Full Review Daniel Barnes Dare Daniel With a visual aesthetic that recalls a 1998 screensaver and a script penned by Google Translate, the film is either admirably unwatchable, contemptuously unwatchable or Vice-unwatchable. Whatever the case, it's unwatchable. Rated: 1/5 Jun 4, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

(ENGLISH) There are bad movies, and then there’s Ultraviolet, which plays in its own league of disaster. Everything about it falls flat: the script, the visual effects, the direction, and even the action scenes, which should have been its strongest asset. The film tries to throw us into a dystopian future with a protagonist rebelling against the government, but what you actually get is a jumble of nonsensical ideas. Milla Jovovich, who has shined in other action films, looks like she’s stuck in a script that gives her nothing to do but deliver senseless lines and fight in what feels like a low-budget video game from twenty years ago. The CGI, instead of enhancing the film, only makes things worse, with artificial environments and unfinished-looking visual effects. Everything feels mechanical, soulless, as if they prioritized aesthetics over everything else… and even in that, they failed. The biggest problem with Ultraviolet is that it’s not even entertaining in its mediocrity. It’s not one of those bad movies you can at least laugh at for how ridiculous it is. Here, the clumsy execution just turns the whole experience into a chore. If anyone made it to the end, it was more out of sheer endurance than actual enjoyment. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Aaron S So bad it's good territory, but I love this movie. We built this city. Phile. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/25 Full Review IV d I don’t know why this movie was so low-rated, but after rewatching it recently, I found that the movie still did a pretty good job of entertaining. It wasn’t that bad Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/30/24 Full Review Brendan O I thought this movie had a cool plot and visually it was awesome. Good popcorn movie. Not sure why all the neg reviews.
