Just not good. If you just recently watched the new Dune movies and are looking for more of the same, don't watch this movie. The movie is, overall, a creative disaster. Horrific acting, bad special effects (even for its time), bad pacing, bad writing, and the list goes on. The characters are completely lifeless, and the back half of the movie is so rushed that it's hard to tell what's going on.

The special effects are mediocre -- the miniatures look like miniatures, the sets look like sets, the matte paintings look like matte painting. And even the much dreaded sand worms are about as scary as Missouri night crawlers.
