Critics Consensus

With plenty of pooches and a memorable villain (Cruella De Vil), this is one of Disney's most enduring, entertaining animated films.

Margaret Hinxman Sight & Sound The fairly long in the tooth child, through whose eyes most Disney dramas, live or otherwise, are seen, seems to have grown up Just a little; a fact which should please adults while not offending the young. Feb 11, 2020 Full Review Keith Phipps The Dissolve However much the film breaks with Disney tradition, it's still a winning effort that mixes cuteness with dry wit in the service of a fast-paced, emotionally charged adventure tale. Dec 12, 2023 Full Review Dilys Powell Sunday Times (UK) Among the many contributions of Disney and his team to the cinema, this is perhaps the strangest: they have made us watch with heart in mouth the adventures of beings who exist only as the projection of photographs and colored drawings. Nick S A total classic, absolutely well-told story with catchy music, humor, smart writing and also some touching moments. The only small objection is art style which is different and not my preferred (though still quite good). Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Jace E One Hundred and One Dalmatians has unique animation and a charming story. The movie is highly rewatchable and enjoyable, mostly due to the adorable puppies and sinister Cruella. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Dale R A movie for dog lovers. This movie is the dawn of Disney’s Xerox style of animation, which I am not a fan of, and that lasted until “The Little Mermaid” in 1989. Cruella de Vil is a great villain with a great design, but she is the most memorable part of the movie. The story is simple, and that might be my problem with it, that it is too simple.
