Steven Soderbergh's intelligently crafted adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel is witty, sexy, thoroughly entertaining, and a star-making turn for George Clooney.

Gus L Soderbergh's usage of lighting and music was incredible. That being said, the plot at times felt a little contrived, and several of the sequences got a little too surreal for a film whose calling card is its realism. Michael Keaton stole the show in his one scene, but most of the performances were good. Overall, this movie was a mixed bag, with some cool stuff with the directing, editing, and acting, but also a disappointment with other portions of the directing and editing, in addition to the contrived plot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Max V Jlo actually acts in this she had me believing she was FBI/US Marshall. Loved the part where she whacks the boxer. Little as she is. The chemistry between Clooney and Jlo smoulders. But who wouldn't with Clooney looking into your eyes. God he was beautiful in this. You forget he's well over pension age now. They make a great Duo, they should do more films together. That chemistry they have shouldn't be wasted. My only criticism. She gives him one too early in the story. I'd play with the chemistry longer like in the TV series Moonlighting. They would make a great good girl bad guy drama/cop series together. It would run and run. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review Thomas N Really, really bland. I don’t understand what people find entertaining about this movie. Original? A totally unbelievable main character, boring dialogue, endless scenes with not much going on at all. A cast of perfectly fine actors but come on, this is dull as ditchwater. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review Thomas M fantastic. couldn't ask for more from an Elmore Leonard adaptation. Soderbergh is one of the best and this was truly a starmaking performance from Clooney. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/30/24 Full Review Tom D Great original storyline, acting and directing. Only flaw is the title, it makes no sense at all. Better would have been calling it 'A tale of ties', standing for encarseration , gangster crews, love at first sight and the sibling bond between Buddy and his sister. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/15/24 Full Review Arnold D Jennifer Lopez was a pleasure to watch in this film, and George Clooney was also very complementary and on point.
