In this classic story of love and devotion set against the backdrop of the American Civil War, a wounded Confederate soldier named W.P. Inman (Jude Law) deserts his unit and travels across the South, aiming to return to his young wife, Ada (Nicole Kidman), who he left behind to tend their farm. As Inman makes his perilous journey home, Ada struggles to keep their home intact with the assistance of Ruby (Renée Zellweger), a mysterious drifter sent to help her by a kindly neighbor.

Tuned into the movie halfway through. I was totally engrossed. Not happy that I didn't see it from beginning. I just watched it in total. Loved it! Nicole Kidman shines but Renee steals the show! Awards well deserved.

Cold Mountain was a sensational movie! It gave an accurate look of the Civil War from the perspective of the losing side, especially how it impacted the female population. The cast of actors was impressive & the cinematography was breathtaking. I was impressed with many of the supporting actors like the late Philip Seymour Hoffman & Brendan Gleeson (who's singing voice was a surprise). I highly recommend this movie to everyone.
