Audience Member I often get snarky about martial arts films recycling the same stories over and over again (avenging a master, learning a new deadly fighting technique, fighting with a disability, etc.), though when this film did try to do a different story, it seemed kind of weird and wasn't all that interesting. A swordsman is imprisoned for killing his adulterous sister-in-law and then endures all sorts of abuse in prison. He does has some interesting fight sequences while his head and hands are locked in wooden stocks, but there really aren't that many fight sequences and outside of the ones where he's in the stocks, none of them were all that memorable. The usually reliable Cheh Chang is credited on IMDB as having co-directed this film, but maybe it's weaker for him not having been the sole director. It's worth watching for fans of 70s martial arts pictures, but others should probably skip this one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member After taking the law into his own hands, ruffian Wu Sung (Ti Lung) willingly allows himself to be arrested and exiled. But the prison warden has a favour to be done, pushing out a brute from the Delightful Forest. The forest is actually a small gambling and whoring town, but the villains are closing in. Wu Sung is able to keep them at bay, until they are able to deceive him and almost kill him. Wu Sung is able to escape with the help of a guard, and takes the fight to them. Despite a good performance from Lung (both physically and acting-wise), the plot is very straight forward and most of the action is near the end. This movie is average at best. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Delightful... indeed! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member (*** 1/2): Thumbs Up A rather eccentric martial arts film that is immensely entertaining, with some fantastic fight scenes. Exciting and was a lot of fun to watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
