Justin Chang Los Angeles Times The movie feels perfectly timed to coincide with our nation's latest flirtation with the apocalypse. Mar 31, 2017 Full Review Nigel Andrews Financial Times The script makes variable sense, but so does life. Dec 29, 2016 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian A movie with something of Back to the Future, Twin Peaks, American Beauty and of course Harvey. Rated: 5/5 Dec 22, 2016 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk A decidedly weird time-travel drama that puzzled viewers so much that many went back to see it again and again... and still came away scratching their heads. Dec 1, 2020 Full Review Michael Pementel Film Inquiry Donnie Darko is a film that requires many viewings or deep research. However, the film is much more than time travel as we've come to know. Jun 29, 2017 Full Review Alex Arabian Film Inquiry Donnie Darko, the 1st cult classic of the 21st century, a masterclass in assiduous filmmaking, remains one of the most relevant, urgent and timely films of the last 50 years. Charlie W Amazing movie, highly recommend Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Jelena J One of the best movies! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Jess L #1 favorite movie. Real, raw, and something everyone should have to watch at some point Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review Karl O I had never warched it before sober. I just did. I couldn't help feeling Donnie Darko is just David Lynch for simpletons. Jake is great but he's surrounded by D-list-level performance. For a great creepy rabbit watch Sexy Beast. Drew Barrymore could never act. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Johnathon W Superb and haunting science fiction film, thanks to a super cast and Richard Kelly's innovative story. The cast is excellent, especially Jake Gyllenhal as the title character, playing Donnie with the right mix of strangeness yet intelligence that you root for him even as he starts to do some crazy things. Behind the camera, writer/director Richard Kelly crafts one of the best science fiction movies in recent years, giving just enough answers on the time travel premise while leaving enough unanswered to provide a haunting feel. The result is one of the most innovative science fiction films in recent years. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/23 Full Review Edward S One of my favorite films of all time, the scoring and soundtrack are dead on. The plot is imaginative and gripping , the acting and ensemble cast are above reproach. This movie bred 2 of Hollywoods brightest stars from the Gyllenhaal family. If i could give it 6 stars i would, Richard Kelly killed it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
