Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem: it's on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it's too late proves shockingly comical -- what will it take to get the world to just look up?!

Don't Look Up shows us what happens if we wait too long to interrogate our culture and ourselves, lose sight of truth, and fail to take action. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, Don't Look Up is more than just mean-spirited and smug. It's aggressively those things -- that is, until that sentimental coda. Go to Full Review

McKay's movies are not particularly pointed in their satire and, as time has gone on, have increasingly settled into their preferred form of a harangue. Go to Full Review

what’s really going on here is emotion, which — as Don’t Look Up seeks to illuminate — is the aforementioned power that too many people believe they do not have. Go to Full Review

["Don't Look Up"] accurately depicts how sensationalism today can stoke panic, fear, and mistrust among the public. Suddenly, science doesn’t matter as much anymore, when it contradicts one’s personal truths. Go to Full Review

Even though alot of politics are involved, it still made me realize... don't sweat the small things in life. Life is just too damn short. See more SpeedDriven 01/07/2022 a movie promoting Realism in an accurate portrayal of Life through the direction of vain Outlooks and what if mob wives ruled the world scenarios. haha. See more Daniel F 12/24/2021 Adam McKay did a wonderful job of weaving humor, irony, truth, greed, humanity, and a cry out to save our beloved planet into a film that is touching, funny, and a breathtaking wake up call. The casting was superb, especially Mark Rylance who makes the hair stand up on your neck with his portrayal which encapsulates true corporate insanity. Seeing Cate Blanchett in a new way, let's me know she is a true chameleon. The film is funny, smart and heartbreaking. It is truly great to see it on the big screen since the special effects were grand. Don't miss this film. See more Read all reviews
