Hitting the pavement with an empty tank of inspiration, Drive Hard goes through its action beats in fits and starts before puttering out completely.

Jesse Hassenger AV Club The experience is like watching an unprepared teenager fake his way through different classes at once: briefly fascinating, mostly idiotic. Rated: D Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Tirdad Derakhshani Philadelphia Inquirer You know there's something fundamentally wrong with Drive Hard less than five seconds in: It opens on a shot of star Thomas Jane sporting an absurd mop of a hairdo that might have been borrowed from a Raggedy Ann doll. Rated: 1/4 Oct 3, 2014 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times Does a lot of revving in order to juice its jokey, violent bad-boy cred, but it never gets out of the driveway. Oct 2, 2014 Full Review Susan Granger SSG Syndicate Very disappointing potboiler that runs out of gas far too quickly. Rated: 2/10 Oct 7, 2014 Full Review Mark Adams Screen International Delivers a goodly amount of good natured action fun but in the end suffers from being just too low-key for its own good. Oct 5, 2014 Full Review Drew Taylor The Playlist "Drive Hard" is just a bore, barely registering as a movie, which is a shame, because with the oddball cast and somewhat notable director, it could have been fun and trashy. Marc B The mistake of this movie was to release it to the USA market. Just having lead American actors and cars isn't enough it would need to be also full of CGI have massive explosions repeated from different angles/slow motion, the lead female actor would need to always wear red and have the most makeup and most importantly from the very first few shots of the film onwards they need to make it completely 100% obvious with facial shots who are the good and bad guys and then keep it maintained so there's zero risk the viewer doesn't demonise the bad guys. This film is so refreshing and so funny, so believable, gems in the screenplay for instance in the middle of a guns standoff drawn in the tense and quiet moment before all hell breaks loose - a mobile phone starts ringing and everyone checks their phones. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Bandile S It is bit meh to be honest. Runs out of puff real quick. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Always great 2 see these 2. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member An Australian film of terrible accents. John Cusack causes havoc in Gold Coast and bonds with a retired Race car Driver. Some laughs and quite a bit of gun powder and speed driving. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Unwatchable. Painful. Gah. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Low budget "buddy" movie filmed entirely on, and blatantly for, Gold Coast Australia tourism industry advertisement, featuring Surfers Paradise and Hinterland scenery to add to your Gold Coast holiday memorabilia. Mild violence, police chases, gangsters, bikey-gang for light entertainment. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
