Charlie Swift (Pierce Brosnan), aka "Fast Charlie," is a fixer with a problem: the target he's whacked is missing his head. And he must prove it's the intended target to the man who paid for the hit -- New Orleans' most prominent and most ruthless mobster, Beggar Mercado (Gbenga Akinnagbe). Charlie enlists Marcie Kramer (Morena Baccarin), the victim's ex-wife and a woman with the backbone and skillset Charlie needs. Dragging Marcie back into a past she was determined to escape sends the two of them on a wild and unpredictable odyssey that's unexpectedly amusing, action propelled, and ultimately heartfelt. Along the way, Charlie and Marcie fight to protect the legacy of Charlie's best friend and mentor, Stan Mullen (James Caan in his final performance), while bringing down Beggar and his entire operation.

John Nugent Empire Magazine A bit of an odd one, an action-comedy throwback that doesn’t quite know what it wants to be. Still, it bodes well for Pierce Brosnan’s new phase as a grey-haired action star. Rated: 2/5 Mar 18, 2024 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Pierce Brosnan has a wry sense of humor in this slick and violent piece of pulp entertainment. Rated: 3/4 Dec 16, 2023 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News Phillip Noyce’s well-seasoned, blood-splattered throwback, a smooth ride that doesn’t wear out its welcome at a brisk 90 minutes. Rated: 3/4 Dec 13, 2023 Full Review Sebastian Zavala Kahn Me gusta el cine The narrative isn't particularly exciting, but between the good work of Brosnan and Baccarin, the efficient direction of Noyce, and the moments of sudden violence and efficient black humour, "Fast Charlie" manages to entertain. Full review in Spanish. Rated: 3/5 Oct 18, 2024 Full Review Neil Soans The Times of India The film thrives on a relaxed pace, blending action and dark comedy. But it is a double-edged sword; while it keeps Fast Charlie from becoming too grim, it also makes some scenes feel off-kilter and less impactful. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 4, 2024 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media This crime tale uses many familiar elements, but, under the guidance of director Phillip Noyce, it feels crisp, fleet-footed, and spirited, adding up to a solid, entertaining B-movie. David M Very enjoyable and fun to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review S M It's pretty wild to see that this movie has a >80% critic and audience rating on RT. With all due respect to Brosnan and Baccarin, if they held a glass of water like they hold a Southern accent, neither one of them would ever drink a drop. It's shocking considering how liberally ADR is used, but less shocking when you hear how ham-handedly it's applied. It reminds me of movies like The Lawnmower Man, where the transition between live-action and CG scenes are clear and unmistakable. In TLM, that was with good reason given the technology available at the time. In this movie, the awful transitions between audio tracks don't make sense, as our technology for merging and matching audio is pretty amazing. In some respects, this has the ingredients to make a good dish. You've got mob intrigue, perfectly capable actors and crew, a spectacular setting. The pulp crime thriller genre offers many examples to crib from when budget is tight and time is short. I am a great proponent of the idea that constraints can be very beneficial to the eventual outcome of a project. However, reading that this movie was made in less than two months, one has to ask whether the people with the purse strings have the ability to reason at all. If you were thinking of watching this movie I would recommend that instead you just imagine "what if you made a good crime thriller starring Brosnan and Baccarin set in the South", raise a glass to James Caan, and call it a day. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/25 Full Review Matthew T The film starts off with a quirky charm before slowing down to let you absorb the heart of its main character. Then, it cranks up the action, evolving into a solid revenge flick with a compelling crime drama edge. At times, the story meanders and could have fallen flat with a weaker cast. Fortunately, Pierce Brosnan and Morena Baccarin carry the film effortlessly, bringing genuine chemistry to their roles. The biggest letdown is the villains—forgettable and uninspired. The film seems aware of this shortcoming, wisely shifting the focus to its heroes, allowing them to shine in both creative, brutal action sequences and quieter, emotionally resonant moments. It’s clear that Fast Charlie is destined to come out on top, but the way it all unfolds holds some unexpected turns—if you’re paying attention, the clues are there. And that ending, pretty fun. Last and more importantly, its a bitter sweet sendoff for the legendary James Caan, making for one hell of a final act in his storied career. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review Pongo K Talk, talk, talk, action, talk, talk. It's ok. Vale apena assistir? Só se for fã. Nota: 4 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Jerod S Brosnan is a good fixer - but Fast Charlie doesn't hold anything special in its arsenal. The woodcock eye death was cool.
