Critics Consensus

Final Destination 2 is little more than an excuse to stage elaborate, gory scenes of characters getting killed off.

Nell Minow Common Sense Media Gruesome, ridiculous, really bad waste of time. Rated: 1/5 Dec 24, 2010 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Pushing the limits of an R rating, this sequel to 2000's surprise hit starts with the blood dripping madly and then amps it up to levels as to now unseen in American horror. Rated: 3/5 Feb 4, 2003 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast The opening premonition is a series best and the deaths are killer (he he), but the expedited runtime means that the characters are shallow, their relationship to each other under developed, and many of them just kinda suck. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 20, 2025 Full Review Stephen A. Russell Orion's Shoulder (Substack) It is magnificent, abiding by the more-is-more rule of follow-ups. It also hoodwinks us into a false sense of security that death can be cheated via the self-checked-in padded cellmate of Ali Larter’s returning Clear Rivers May 25, 2025 Full Review Sharai Bohannon A Nightmare On Fierce Street Podcast This feels like a really bad made for TV movie with great kills. Kimmi B. A fun watch for horror fan with some even more entertaining and creative kills than the first movie. What this film does well is tap into the silliness of the franchise. With the iconic log scene and wire kill, it does a good job of standing out. Really fun mix of personalities in the core group. I would say an improvement on the first due to the tone shift. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/25 Full Review Leviathan M This is a significant improvement from the first film, and that logging truck scene if freaking awesome Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/28/25 Full Review Ian S Like the first movie, the best scene happened early but unlike the previous one, the pacing wasn't as good. Some good set pieces with the dentist office and the elevator scene. Entertaining enough. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/19/25 Full Review chris m few sequels turn out well, and even fewer turn out better. first english, below spanish: english: “if the first installment surprised, the second confirmed that it was not an isolated stroke of luck.” this could summarize the effect caused by 'final destination 2', a sequel that, far from repeating itself soullessly, chose to raise the bar of spectacle even higher. the film becomes a visual feast: the deaths are more impactful, among the most memorable of the entire saga, and manage to leave images engraved in the minds of a whole generation of viewers. the staging is of surgical precision, every detail seemingly calculated to heighten tension and turn the inevitable into an exercise in cinematic astonishment. added to this is the realism of the visual effects: not perfect, but convincing enough to enhance the sense of veracity in each sequence. as for its narrative, it maintains the same structure as its predecessor, with characters built on archetypes that fulfill their role within the machinery of the script. however, what in other sequels might sound like repetition, here becomes a virtue: the essence is preserved and what worked is amplified. rarely has contemporary horror cinema offered such a solid continuation. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/25 Full Review Renee T I enjoyed it, I liked the highway scene to start it off. I'm glad it didn't look cheesy.. very entertaining. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/14/25 Full Review Ry N A group survives a huge car accident and again Death comes to collect but this time the survivors have an idea about how Death hunts from the first film. I like how they were able to tie the sequel to the original. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Read all reviews
