Elizabeth Kerr The Hollywood Reporter Ngo more than makes up for any shortcomings with a fiery, stoic, desperate and poised performance that balances badassery with vulnerability. It's her movie to lose. May 16, 2019 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com As violently compelling as events prove to be, the filmmaker still remembers to craft a complex, multi-dimensional lead character worthy of the audience's emotional investment. Rated: 3/4 Mar 11, 2019 Full Review Matthew Lickona San Diego Reader Notable finally for making the most of its limited resources: trying mightily to squeeze as much juice from a moped chasing an outboard skiff along a rural river as a Bond movie might have gotten from a superbike zipping after a speedboat through Venice. Rated: 2/5 Mar 1, 2019 Full Review Wilson Kwong VCinema Headlining a revenge thriller that is sure to be seen as a female version of Taken (2008), Ngo delivers a heartfelt performance in a film that is far from perfect, but still manages to pack in a couple of furious punches. Feb 13, 2022 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See More than an all-out actioner, Furie synthesizes family melodrama, revenge, and acrobatic combat into a story about mothers and children. Rated: B Jun 30, 2020 Full Review Chris Sawin Reel Rundown Even with its flaws, Furie is a one-woman juggernaut. Rated: 3/5 Mar 3, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Lance C Honestly the fighting is one of the only things save the film. Most of the characters lack feeling with a story that lacks a true background. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/23/25 Full Review Pepper W I can't say enough about this movie! Filled with action and emotional content to last years! The female lead Veronica Ngo was beyond fantastic. The premise is like the Liam Neesom movie "Taken", but with so much more intensity and heart tugging scenes featuring the adorable Mai Cát Ngo as the daughter. The mother is relentless in her pursuit of her daughter's captors and stops at nothing to get her (and others) back to the safety of their families. The martial arts scenes were very well choreograph, part "The Raid", "Jason Borne" and pieces of Jason Statham action movies. The director Le-Van Kiet never lets go. His pacing is perfect at all the right spots. The composer of the score deserves credit for creating tension and emotional depth in all the right 'spots'. If you want to see it all, WATCH THIS MOVIE!!! It delivers on everything! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Hendry L A great martial art, action movie from Vietnam. What surprised me most though was the excellent production. The film has excellent lighting and cinematography with its lovely use of colours. Veronica Ngo is amazing as the main lead and she gives a strong performance, especially during emotional moments. The plot is very straightforward with another "child gets taken" plot seen in many movies before. The problem is that it teases some criminal underground stuff and gangster backstory of our main lead but doesn't explore it enough. You never really truly get to know our main lead. Still, I enjoyed it a lot and it certainly feels like a big step in Vietnamese Cinema. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Sam W A traditional revenge thriller which stands out mainly due to its location and good acting. The slow-ish start sets the scene with beautiful rural Vietnam and humble country living before moving into the crowded, filthy and corrupt city. The martial arts fight scenes and chase scenes are good with ample dramatic music but they look sped up, as are other parts of the film. Good characterization of the tough yet emotionally vulnerable mother on her mission to save her daughter and whilst the other characters are barely present, they are memorable and serve their purpose. Its style doesn't really become apparent until the end and whilst it doesn't really do anything new, it does it well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review JJJJJJ J The action in this film is really good but the plot is a bit lacking. The basic story is very vanilla really not deviating in any major way from the basic kidnapping story. It makes the film a bit predictable and less interesting then it otherwise would be. The action though is incredibly well done, and there's tons of it. I'd recommend this movie to hardcore action fans, or people interesting in Vietnamese action specifically. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Mark G Basically a leaner, more exciting Vietnamese version of 'Taken'. The fights are better choreographed, the odds are greater, and Ngo is a more convincing, charismatic and empathetic protagonist than Neesen. She can act, fight and win audience sympathy, and makes most Hollywood actresses attempts at action roles seem inadequate in comparison. It does look as if there was some pruning of the film as the end credits hint at a longer film. Well worth seeing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
