What to Know

Critics Consensus

While fans of the Hasbro toy franchise may revel in a bit of nostalgia, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is largely a cartoonish, over-the-top action fest propelled by silly writing, inconsistent visual effects, and merely passable performances.

Audience Member Ridiculous acting, writing, plot lines, plot holes, CGI, and some of the most awful line delivery I have seen in a supposed big budget film. Who is this film for?!! Doesn't matter! You alienated old fans and any potential new fans. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Liam H It had potential and the first 2/3's of the movie are fairly enjoyable but the ending is very chaotic and messy, flipping here and there to the point that you can't actually see what is going on. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/24/24 Full Review Georgan G 3.25 stars. Better than expected, and fun to see a great cast have fun with this new franchise. Some laughs, but nothing exciting with special effects. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Derek L Stephen Sommers' take on the live action G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, failed to shine with a rather silly and messy script, underwhelming characters to mediocre performances and visuals. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Jay F Great action. Fun characters. Decent storyline. Fun to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review The H boom boom boom, what else?
