Harjinder S Intro: "Highlander, In Search of Vengence" is about Colin McCloud's hasty stand and his enduring promise to be just a drifter in the distant future. Medium: This is a cartoon CGI live action film, which serves to instill the lasting scences in ones memory. Among all the "seen it before" scenes therin, theres a charm to its context clues. Compelling, If so, why? No, This movie is simply a fair walk along tested ideas and plot. Plot hits more info ceiling? No, Its simply about a guy and his journey into past or future where he may square out with his role. Final comments. (35/40) "Its a total watch it, classic" Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Leaving aside the sex scenes, it could bore to death anyone older than 8 y.o. Ridiculous dialogues, half interesting story, but very badly told. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Great Highlander movie. Was it so hard for the other sequels to be this consistent.. GEEEZ I guess there can be only one means there can be only one GREAT sequel lol Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Unlike Highlander: The Source, this animated movie is way better and more true to the original idea of what a Highlander franchise should be like. Set in near future, the movie is about a warrior over 2000 years old who kills a Scottish tribe in Britain during Roman era. The highlander in question is Colin of the clan MacLeod, but whether he's Connor's ancestor is not clear; and only their family name ties them together even though this story has nothing to do with Connor. Colin seeks revenge for the death of his wife throughout centuries and we travel along with him on the path paved with rage, vengeance, and fury. Very graphic. This is an adult cartoon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Best product released since the original Highlander. Great story, great characters, great action, but the part that lets it down for me is the terrible Scottish accents. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Highlander: The Search for Vengeance could not possibly be worth than Highlander II: The Quickening or Highlander III: Final Dimension. And since I'm on an everlasting search for a legitimately good sequel, this may be my final chance. As predicted, Highlander: The Search for Vengeance is flawed. For one thing, its plot is primarily a mere retread of the first Highlander in terms of character background and the structure of the story, and it even incorporates elements from Highlander II: The Quickening in terms of its dystopian future. However, in use of the latter it does not create an incongruent plot and actually manages to make things work, although there is no longer the same level of creativity in its plotting. Also, the fact that its an anime makes it significantly different from the rest of the Highlander series and removes the element of cheap unserious fun from the original Highlander in lieu of a serious plot with gritty drama and anime as a front. Although they make it work, it still can't be compared to the original film, with the exception of Highlander II: The Quickening because that was the single worst film of all time. Basically, Highlander: The Search for Vengeance doesn't embrace the atmosphere of a good Highlander movie, primarily due to its medium of storytelling being significantly different from its originators, and the cheap sense of 1980's fun which made the original. Lastly, the voice acting wasn't as well developed as it could have been and there were several script errors. But in terms of being a standalone sword-and-science fiction action anime piece, Highlander: The Search for Vengeance functions and entertains. The visual quality of the animation in Highlander: The Search for Vengeance is great since its rich in colour and swift in movement, and the atmosphere is constantly rich with action and quality to it, making it sufficiently visually appealing. And by anime standards, Highlander: The Search for Vengeance lives up to the standard of all the action, blood, gore and nudity required for a film of this calibre. It's quite entertaining in that sense, also particularly because of how the animation even recaptures the style of the passionate sex scene from the first Highlander movie with an anime touch to it. That scene in particular was animated very well, as was the final action sequence. And I found that the drama in the story really had me connecting with the characters. This was unexpected, but I found through the drama set up in the science fiction setting that it hit hard and that I was convinced by the atmospheric setting. Essentially, it works moreso as a standalone piece than as an entry into the Highlander series due to its anime setup, but Highlander: The Search for Vengeance is the best of all the Highlander sequels and was an entertaining standalone piece.
