Blu B Oct 21 I always find it interesting watching these monster mashups which predate the MCU. Such a great idea but they didn't know how to make it work well. This is a bit of a mess. The music isn't bad and probably the best thing but it's a bit overused. The acting/cinematography is ok. The acting in general is a bit on the wooden side and the new Doctor is just ok. Seeing the three monsters return is great but in general there is no character background since we last saw them to speak of. They just show up with the basic things to get cured and that's about it. Really this film uses the Doctor to serve as a mixed retelling of Frankenstein kind of. The castle and black & white looks good but in general the direction is pretty basic. And it lacks really anything to memorable. Looks like all the others but doesn't stand out as much. The editing and pacing isn't good here despite it being barely 70 minutes. The core problem here is the main 3 story lines feel completely seperate with only the doctor serving as the anchor. For 99% of the runtime none of the 3 monsters actually interact in any sort of way. And couple that with the lack of any character development for WHY they want to be cured and it just feels very dry and disjointed. Than it just tries in the final 10 minutes to link everything together in a mad frenzy it feels like and it becomes almost incoherent out of nowhere. But in general it's the same mad scientist meets his undoing. I will say the Monster's subplot feels almost unneeded and could've been cut completely. Overall I'd say skip this. Pero querían traer de nuevo al monstruo de Frankenstein y lo hicieron sin tener en cuenta el resultado final. Como las demás películas, existen buenas escenas, buenos actores, buena fotografía y buen maquillaje. Pero debido a la cantidad de reescrituras que sufrió el guion, la historia que nos trajeron tiene demasiadas fallas. Si se la ve como una película en solitario, es bastante pasable. Pero como secuela de House Of Frankenstein, tiene bastantes errores. Cuando parecía que Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man era incoherente debido a las escenas que se eliminaron, House Of Dracula es mucho más incoherente. La película trae de regreso al Drácula de John Carradine y al memorable Lawrence Talbot de Lon Chaney Jr. Lo malo es que son traídos de regreso por arte de magia sin explicar cómo es que revivieron. Al principio parece que Drácula acude al Dr. Edelman para le cure el vampirismo, pero de pronto cambia de idea yendo detrás de una de la enfermera Mililza Morelle. Este cambio de plan tan repentino no tiene sentido y no justifican si lo del curar el vampirismo solo era una excusa para que Drácula busque a otra novia. Hay que decir incluso que el Drácula de John Carradine está muy desaprovechado. En la película anterior lo estaba también, pero aquí no supieron muy bien que hacer con él. Eso hace que este sea el peor Drácula de la franquicia. Ni siquiera explican cómo es que el ataúd de Drácula termino en el hogar de Edelman en primer lugar. El título ni siquiera tiene sentido porque la historia no está transcurriendo en el hogar original de Drácula. Lon Chaney Jr. es el único que sigue cumpliendo su rol correctamente como Lawrence Talbot. El único error que cometieron con él fue traerlo de vuelta sin explicación aparente. ¿Acaso él es indestructible como el monstruo de Frankenstein o qué? Podría esta ser solo una película derivada, pero mantuvieron la continuidad por medio del regreso del monstruo de Frankenstein dando a entender que el pantano de la película anterior estaba justo cerca del hogar de Edelman sin olvidar mencionar que la película transcurre en Visaria al igual que la anterior. Lo más random fue que Edelman se volviera algo parecido a Jekyll y Hyde solo para poder revivir al monstruo con ideas de dominio mundial. No tiene sentido que Drácula le haya metido esas ideas en la sangre si el conde no sabía que el monstruo estaba por ahí sepultado, ¿o si sabía? El problema con esta película es que trató de emular House Of Frankenstein y eso se notaba por medio del trailer. Hasta decidieron que Nina fuera jorobada para ser el típico ayudante jorobado. Aparte de tener un guion lleno de defectos, también prefirieron reciclar la partitura de películas anteriores y hasta algunas escenas. Se nota bastante que decidieron reutilizar una de las últimas escenas de The Ghost Of Frankenstein. Según los realizadores, esta es la película final de la franquicia de monstruos clásicos, pero por suerte no es del todo. De ser así, este sería el peor final y solo se salva el hecho de que Talbot se vuelve el héroe. Aunque esta no fue la última película de la franquicia, lo cierto es que House Of Dracula fue la peor entrega. Mi calificación final para esta película es un 5/10.
