      I Give It a Year

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It's nowhere near as inventive as its reverse rom-com premise might suggest, but I Give It a Year is disarmingly frank -- and often quite funny.

Gareth D Funny but not romantic, will give you some laughs if you emjoy British humour. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Yoosik Ethan O When i saw the preview with Stephan Merchant's hilarious best man speech, I was looking forward to another British comedy. But overall, it seemed a lot longer than it was. Some funny moments, but it felt like it dragged and didn't go anywhere at times. But certainly not a typical predicable romantic comedy ending. Certainly it's somewhat original in that way. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review James C Had to skip through certain bits of. It was so desperately awkward, like a competition to try and make you switch off. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/13/23 Full Review Mark B Rose Byrne is so charismatic in this movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Bor D Waste of time! Regret I didn't stop watching it after the first 30 minutes. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/30/23 Full Review Mike P Beautifully photographed but no more than a tipsy undergraduate premise underpins this cliched, outdated attempt at shlock comedy which makes Will Ferrell and co look like bleeding Shakespeare. Could hear only silence in the auditorium throughout. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Leba Hertz San Francisco Chronicle "I Give It a Year" is a smart farce that would make Hugh Grant and his fans proud. Rated: 3/4 Sep 5, 2013 Full Review Linda Barnard Toronto Star Mazer's previous onscreen experience is undeniably obvious. No penis is left unfilmed, no crude scene prevented from going on far too long. Rated: 2/4 Aug 23, 2013 Full Review Stephanie Merry Washington Post In addition to some trite set pieces, writer-director Dan Mazer serves up nothing more than conspicuous cynicism masquerading as comedy. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 15, 2013 Full Review Katie Smith-Wong Flick Feast Only occasionally funny but mainly awkward with its quick and easy humour, I Give It A Year doesn't deliver the new style of British romantic comedy that we were waiting for. Rated: 1.5/5 Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com I Give It a Year certainly doesn't give us its all. Aug 22, 2019 Full Review Morgan Rojas Cinemacy I Give It A Year may not be that "summer fun for the whole family" type of movie, but if you're looking to break the ice on a first date, I'd say it's the perfect film.
