Rick M One of the slowest moving movies I have ever watched, but decided to see it through to the end . One of the worst movies ever made. The director should never be allowed to make another. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review craig h With all the movies out there, why not watch something else? This is MST3K/Rifftrax Levels good, and not really suited for anything else. Seriously, where did this low rent captain Nemo come from?(I don't remember his character being in this Jules Verne work, but hey, that works...I think.) Cartoonish levels of bad...creatures? Looks like they came from a war reenactment...a Vietnam War reenactment. Without the apocalypse now levels of weaponry, and the personalities of wood. Drift wood. No that's too kind. Wet fiberboard is better. Add in a giant octopus that you have to see to believe. Because you won't believe it's real. The original hero character(s)(?) are supposed to be from the Civil War. Reenactment unrealism guaranteed to leave you wanting less. Only Gina Holden seemed to be any good at holding on to the crumbs presented to her throughout this debatable thing masquerading as a script. This however was completely wasted by the director, which makes me wonder if if it had one. It couldn't stay on any one target for too long, lest you finally figure out what it's actually about. Racism? Time travel? Time machine nautiluses? Love in the time of tuberculosis? Volcanoes...that's it! Volcanoes! If you value your time, your sanity, your sobriety...Then buckle up!...and find something else. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/30/22 Full Review Audience Member Remembered watching this as a kid at my grandma's house. Not too bad, but could use some SERIOUS improvements. But if you want to have your kid be quiet for an hour so that you can relax or sleep then this isn't too bad of a choice. Just make sure that the volume isn't too low or else he won't hear anything. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member 2017-01-27 We saw a different version from 2012 (for 2nd time). Nemo was NOT played by Patrick Stewart and the Captain was NOT Kyle McLaughlan etc. And it was only 2 hours with commercials. Same storyline though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Adventure for children, even small ones if they are brave. Some of the special effects look more fake than others. We are spoiled by the latest generation effects for sure. Still the story moves forward with enough sense to want more. Inspired by Jules Verne book of 1875 but updated quite a bit. Nice play, lovely ladies, mean pirates, monsters. Two part series with enough room for several narratives. A bit of balloon, a bit of jurrassic park, a bit of pirates. I liked how the whole was weaved and the characters could be revealed. Rare storyline where danger does take lives and all is not sure at any time and the end is not perfect. A refreshing non-disney movie worth seeing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Too long, shoddy effects, and dull characters. The Pirates are cheesy, the monsters are scarce, and Stewart stays absent for too long. Typical ending and bland action. The film doesn't offer much in its 3 hour run time.
