Even with a simple plot, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is so flat-out hysterical that it’s a complete joy to watch. The film embraces the silly concept of being sucked into a video game, but never insults the audience’s intelligence.

It's a good pop movie! It's pretty funny -- Kevin Hart doing Kevin Hart things -- and it has kind of a sweet message about being enough when you think you want to be someone else, or at least look like someone else. If I was a kid around the time this came out I could see myself really loving it, in particular for the altered time aspect of it and the video game angle. I could even have gone for them leaning in even more into the video game shtick, it's fun. They could have done even more physical comedy, and gotten borderline cartoony with it, especially when it came to gravity or physics-defying movement of the characters.

8 year old refused to watch it after watching the first one and discovering it wasn't a board game anymore but a video game. It might be a decent movie but had to find something else to watch because of the disappointment.
