Audience Member Had me screaming at the TV by the end - the story swirls deeper and deeper down and pulls everything with it. A real snowball! Part of the film's grasp on me was its realism, very well done. There is an awkward tension between Frank and Lynette, especially when they first meet, and it is interesting to watch their relationship develop as they gradually loosen up around each other. Marsden's performance as Frank is fierce and brutal, sometimes a bit gross - he really gave it his all. The story seems to thicken quite naturally and film is very good at making the viewer empathetic to its heavy story lines. The story is bleak but sincere. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Hard hitting British drama, with Marsan performing well in a rare lead role. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Best thing I've seen in a long time.. Expert direction, acting, writing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Thoughtful piece on those on the fringes of society for different reasons. Eddie Marsan is an excellent choice for this role, although the secondary story involving the Christine character is underdeveloped and probably not required in the grand scheme of things. Guy Lodge Variety The moral of this structurally addled urban drama could be summed up more simply: It's generally not a good idea to let homeless addicts move into your apartment. Jul 4, 2012 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard More sincere than sophisticated. Rated: 2/5 Nov 4, 2011 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian This is a tough film, and it isn't perfect: it works best when Marsan is on the screen, and we are inside his agonised day-to-day reality. Rated: 3/5 Nov 3, 2011 Full Review Holly Cooper CineVue Junkhearts is worth watching for the impressive perfomances by Reid and Marsan. Rated: 3/5 Dec 5, 2018 Full Review Alistair Harkness Scotsman There's a point at which good performances stop being enough to excuse dreary storytelling, shoddy execution and a general lack of ideas, and ... Junkhearts reaches it fairly early on. Rated: 2/5 Nov 27, 2011 Full Review Lisa Giles-Keddie Real.com Aptly named as the characters purge their tickers in their quest for redemption. Expect another bleak tale of inner-city hardship and self pity ... Rated: 3/5 Nov 6, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews
