Bilge Ebiri Spirituality & Health This is a fascinating film, but more importantly, it's a convincing one. May 24, 2021 Full Review Kate Erbland indieWire While platitudes about how this is really just about love - not money or industry or good old-fashioned greed - are far too simplistic, at least the movie attempts to make its issues feel personal enough to make people care. Dadiana C This is the first discussion of climate change that hasn’t made me feel like I’ll have to train for doomsday. Kiss the Ground is a highly informative documentary of what farmers and to an extent everyday people can do to keep our planet going for generations. By returning to the farming techniques of indigenous peoples around the world like allowing animals to graze freely, phasing out the use of tilling, and diversifying plants grown, rapid climate change can be mitigated in our lifetime. With voice-over from Academy Award-nominated actor Woody Harrelson to break down the more academic language used throughout it, I think those interested in reducing their carbon footprint or waste would greatly benefit from giving this documentary a look. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Jacob K If you believe in nature’s power to heal itself, Kiss the Ground will speak to your soul. Directed by Josh Tickell and Rebecca Tickell, this documentary shows how regenerative agriculture can restore soil health, pull carbon from the atmosphere, and rebalance our ecosystems. Narrated by Woody Harrelson, the film highlights pioneers in regenerative farming like Gabe Brown, who prove that working with nature can heal the Earth and ourselves. The stunning visuals of thriving farms are a testament to what’s possible when we treat the land with respect. Beyond just watching, the film empowers each of us to take action—whether by supporting sustainable farming, making conscious food choices, or advocating for policies that combat climate change. For those who embrace holistic living and sustainability, this film is a powerful call to action. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/23/24 Full Review Deniese R Such a hopeful documentary! Thank you to all involved! Just when I was thinking the effort to save us from climate change was too big. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/22/24 Full Review Angelica B Kiss the Ground by Joshua and Rebecca Tickell takes a deep dive into our environment and its overall sustainability. The beginning of the film can be alarming for the audience as we have to hear about the seemingly irreversible damage that is occurring to our environment as a direct result of our methods of farming. However, with narration by Woody Harrelson, the audience is soothed as we learn that with some small changes, we actually can reverse this damage. The film brings hope and optimism to an otherwise dreary situation that makes us feel like we can each do our part to repair the environment. Interviews from various professionals on the subject give the film a source of credibility as they speak about alternatives and different ways we can farm and get our food to stop the harm we our causing to the Earth. Overall, Kiss the Ground is an excellent film that anyone who wants to make a change can benefit from watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/24 Full Review May L The documentary Kiss the Ground by Joshua and Rebecca Tickell is an extremely well-put-together film filled with accommodating infographics to help the audience stay engaged and informed of the film's overall message. Usually, when I'm watching documentaries I tend to get so lost, especially due to my lack of knowledge and the film's assumption that the viewers know more than they actually do. That's definitely not the case with Kiss the Ground, as they had multiple motion graphics either displaying definitions or statistical data that's broken down to help explain each graphic instead of it being thrown at me like a football, by which Kiss the Ground is publicly endorsed by NFL quarterback Tom Brady, who is seen in the documentary talking about the importance that nutrients have on his life as he didn't play 23 seasons eating garbage. Garbage, which can easily damage soil due to the countless food scraps that get thrown out with no regard. However, we as a society can fix that issue, as Robert Reed, a PR manager at Recology, explains how we are able to collect food scraps, turn them into compost, and send them to local farms to help improve the soil. In all seriousness, Kiss the Ground is an overall engaging film that leaves me wanting to spread awareness of such beneficial agricultural practices. I definitely would recommend watching this documentary over and over again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Alex R Joshua and Rebecca Tickell's Kiss the Ground is an impactful and moving film. The film is able to relay an informative and uplifting message about how we treat the Earth and how the Earth will treat us in return. Their take on regenerative farming influences the audience to consider other methods of farming. The Tickells are strong advocates for a clean and sustainable future and have lots of experience with environmental issues in the past. They do a beautiful job of outlining the problem and explaining the alternatives and the science behind them. Farmers and other advocates make appearances in the documentary to explain how regenerative farming has worked for them and how others can implement change as well. Aspects of the film such as the uplifting music and soft lighting allow the audience to feel the message of hope that is meant to influence change. Kiss the Ground is more than just an informative documentary, and I strongly recommend it for anyone looking to learn more about what we can do to help the Earth!
