The mysterious appearance of a young woman (Allira Jaques) washed up starkers on Mim Beach turns the sleepy town into a tailspin. Is she a mermaid, why does she have amnesia, what is going on with her craving for coffee? Meanwhile, it's the celebration day of Seafront Sands' Bicentennial, with developers circling, and many of the seemingly happy townsfolk lost in love, and in desperate need of a shot of cupid's arrow. Now named Mim, after the beach where she was found, the young woman has a profound effect on everyone she comes into contact with: a hard as nails local councilwoman, her retired Naval Captain brother (John Jarratt), a grieving widow running the local cafe, a sensitive policeman afraid to pop the question and his assistant who thinks that he's Tom Selleck; and Harrison (Mitchell Hope), a handsome young man who runs a dating agency with Emily (Steph Tisdell), his sassy assistant. When Mim makes a particularly strong connection with Harrison, it looks like a match made in heaven, but during the course of one eventful day, big secrets are revealed that will make this a mythical event that will change everyone's life forever.

Joshua H Australian audiences often judge homegrown films before they’ve even seen them. The real challenge for Australian cinema isn’t winning over the world—it’s winning over Australia. Have we become so conditioned by American content that we don’t give our talent a chance? It feels like high school, where popularity decides who gets noticed. On top of that, Australian films don’t have the same budgets as Hollywood, making it even harder to compete. Our industry is rich with talent and unique stories, but audiences often look past them, opting for bigger productions. The real task is convincing Australians to embrace and support their own because the talent is right here—waiting to be seen. Is LOVE YOU LIKE THAT perfect...NO! But it was fun, heartfelt and I walked away happy. Isn't that what film is meant to do? I enjoyed this film and congrats to the director and the whole cast and crew. I hope to see more. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/13/24 Full Review Margie D I really liked it. I thought it was an original idea. Won't spoil it for those yet to see it. Surprising twist at the end..only thing that was lame was using love is in the air as the ending song. Could have been bigger n better but a cute aussie film..what can I say..'All you need is love' Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/05/24 Full Review Becca G 1 dimensional, stereotypical characters, boring and predictable plot. Total lack of style, substance and character Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Gabe Director Eric C. Nash's "Love You Like That" is a heartfelt exploration of love, identity, and the complexities of human relationships. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Australian landscape, this film is a true cinematic gem that leaves a lasting impression. The film's narrative revolves around the lives of its well-crafted characters, brought to life by a talented ensemble cast. Nash skillfully weaves their stories together, creating a tapestry of emotions that resonates deeply with the audience. Each character is flawed yet relatable, making it easy to connect with their struggles and triumphs. The cinematography in "Love You Like That" is nothing short of breathtaking. The lush landscapes of Australia are captured in all their glory, serving as both a backdrop and a character in the story. The cinematographer's artistry enhances the film's emotional depth, adding another layer of meaning to every scene. One of the film's greatest strengths lies in its ability to tackle sensitive themes with grace and authenticity. Nash doesn't shy away from addressing complex issues, including love in all its forms, self-discovery, and the power of acceptance. These themes are explored with nuance, leaving the audience with plenty to ponder long after the credits roll. The music in "Love You Like That" is a soulful companion to the narrative, enhancing the emotional impact of each moment. The soundtrack's melodies linger in your mind, evoking a sense of nostalgia and melancholy that perfectly complements the story. In conclusion, "Love You Like That" is a must-see Australian film that deserves recognition on the global stage. Eric C. Nash's direction, combined with outstanding performances and stunning visuals, makes this a cinematic experience that will touch your heart and leave you with a profound sense of appreciation for the power of love and human connection. Don't miss the opportunity to be moved by this extraordinary piece of filmmaking. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/23 Full Review Jude D Awful movie. Starts off well, but turns into a stupid movie with a completely unrealistic premise, and very poor acting. It has a stupid gay story line that sets up as a straight story line with a bait and switch. The main characters only grab you because they are attractive , but the supposed love interest turns out to be his immortal mother. 😳 The side characters are either ridiculous caricatures or utterly wooden. Beware the make out scence between the obese woman and the awkward cop. Disturbingly gross. This movie is an absolute waste of time, and undermines the efforts of Australian filmmakers to be taken seriously on the world stage. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review carli m This is the best Australian movie I've ever seen, I loved it! Funny and quirky, and meaningful at the same time.
