What to Know

Critics Consensus

Trying too hard to be clever in a Pulp Fiction kind of way, this film succumbs to a convoluted plot, overly stylized characters, and dizzying set design.

Brian Tallerico UGO McGuigan has such a stylish eye that, even if you never quite care what's happening, you'll always be visually entertained. Mar 24, 2007 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader With its diabolical ending, this is the movie equivalent of a crossword puzzle: fun, clever, and disposable. Dec 18, 2006 Full Review Ed Gonzalez Slant Magazine A gaseous movie experience gets a solid DVD treatment. Sep 6, 2006 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …well worth a look for fans of McGuigan, Hartnett and particular those with a penchant for Bruce Willis in action mode… Rated: 4/5 Sep 19, 2023 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News A bloody romp full of rich characters and performances. Writer Jason Smilovic and director Paul McGuigan have created a great homage to film noir. Rated: A- Nov 20, 2019 Full Review Joshua Starnes ComingSoon.net Lucky Number Slevin is a very clever film, probably too clever for its own good. John S It's too cool for school with way too much high octane dialogue and it's not nearly as intelligent as it might have been in 2006.... But it's still a lot of fun, visually assaulting and (though I hate to say it:) sexy. It's got a hard-nosed twist I didn't anticipate, a fast paced story that never lags, and a fantastic cast that are all-in. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Sarah C What the hell is this movie. I put this on because I saw Lucy Liu and Bruce Willis and as much as I appreciate seeing Josh Hartnett in a towel, I don't think this movie is for me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/23/24 Full Review Blinky B Worth it just for Lucy Liu ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Faiz D Highly entertaining thriller with some really amazing twists. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Tim M Not nearly as clever as it thinks it is, Lucky Number Slevin's screenplay is as desperate as it is inconsistent. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/21/24 Full Review Peter W A stylish & stylistic thriller with a great cast which borrows ideas & tricks from a host of other films: Pulp Fiction, True Romance, Sexy Beast - and just about succeeds in taking the audience along for the ride.
