Paul McGuigan
Edgy Scottish director Paul McGuigan always swore he'd never do episodic television, "because you don't start or finish it, which is never that rewarding" (from The Daily Record January 1, 2012). But despite his reservations, the filmmaker often associated with vulgar crime films found success in the medium, helming series as disparate as the lauded "Sherlock" (BBC, 2010-) and the peppy ABC musical "Smash" (NBC, 2012-).
