Nol P I like this movie overall and I finally watched again, (thanks to the power of the dvd!) Most of these good war films are almost impossible to find on any platform so I am glad to have had a copy on dvd to watch when I wanted. I feel that this movie would have been even better with a bit longer running time and as well some stamped dates on screen during the presentation to some of the battles and timelines. Agree? Gregory Peck was one fine actor! The director could have done a bit more I do believe. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review kevin f While not as good a film as Patton, it's a more balanced view of its subject. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review delysid d sadly, this movie makes no sense, i like gregory peck but this movie pales in comparison to patton or even peck's own pork chop hill Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/10/22 Full Review Audience Member Douglas MacArthur is the most overrated American historical figure, the fact is that he is not even a successful general. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought it was really good, and from a historical perspective I learned a great deal about the Korean conflict, and also how MacArthur kick-started the Japan economy after World War 2. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review chas m Love him or hate him, this is a pretty good telling of his life in WWII through Korea. Peck plays the man with from light hearted to taking the responsibility for getting the job done at the cost of his men's lives. The "rally to me" speech is certainly the high point, with Peck playing the righteous fury of MacArthur to a "T". Well worth a watch.
