Audience Member Not bad for a modern day film, insisting on keeping the camp and style of the legendary lucha classic films of yesteryear. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member So The Wrestler was the second best movie about wrestling that I saw this weekend. The Internet said that this was playing at a Kentucky theater, so my friend Steve and I went there, to the theater at the outlet mall, only to find no trace of the film. I asked at the counter, "Is the Mil Mascaras film playing here?" (and, yes, felt stupid doing so) and the ticket guy looked stunned and said, "Uhhhh...well...yeah, it is." This film playing in places like Kentucky and Mississippi makes no sense to me, and keeping it under such wraps makes even less (than no) sense. Perhaps there is a Mafia-linked explanation? This part of the story is to encourage you to be proactive and ask your local theater about Mil Mascaras vs. The Aztec Mummy. Because it is superlative. Mil Mascaras is a Mexican wrestler and, in this film, is "the most respected man in the world". He uses his wrestling salary to study obscure physics and fights crime, sometimes letting the police tag along if they're lucky. I divide the world into two groups: those who can love a film with a line like "His theories on wrestling have been published by all the peer-reviewed journals" and Losers. Choose your path.
