Miracle at St. Anna is a well-intentioned but overlong, disjointed affair that hits few of the right notes.

K M One of the few war movies I've liked. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review Nathan T A simply atrocious movie with zero redeeming qualities. It is also slanderous to the United States military in its wholly erroneous representations. Complete garbage. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/24 Full Review Euro C A piece of italian history told with american style. Hard recipe. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/30/23 Full Review steve d I normally love Spike Lee's work but this was overly long and emotionally manipulative. Perhaps it is because he didn't write it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Devin H I Love Miracle At St Anna it's definitely one of Spike Lee's Most entertaining films to date & one my favorite war pictures. I never read the book but I thought action was gripping, suspenseful, story was intriguing, the characters were Likable & believable. Michael Ealy, Omar Benson Miller, & Laz Alonso did a good job in thr lead roles. One of Spike Lee's best films to date. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It was very powerful. The actors brought the characters to life. The cinematography was amazing. Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Rated: 2/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Laremy Legel Film.com Rated: D+ May 6, 2011 Full Review Jonathan F. Richards Film.com Lee is a filmmaker who, through talent, accomplishment, and a constant working of the refs in the Hollywood system, has earned autonomy over his films. I'm all for artistic freedom, but here he could have used a bit of oversight. Nov 10, 2008 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review As noble as Lee’s effort might be in theory, no message, however important, can distract from the film’s desperation to be epic—a self-consciousness that results in a meandering, overstuffed, and poorly structured story. Rated: 2/4 Sep 5, 2023 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Spike Lee has created what may be his weakest film to date. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 16, 2020 Full Review Brian D. Johnson Maclean's Magazine It's too long, and its worthy efforts at period authenticity are undermined by a shaggy script that spells out its message with all the subtlety of military propaganda.
