Audience Member Loved this movie. A feel-good movie for sure, but it made me think a lot about my own childhood, the value of memory and forgiving. It's also extraordinarily funny for those who know a bit of Brittany like myself. Loads of fun and emotion, thumbs up. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Long à démarrer, on se demande ou ça va. Un côté c'était mieux avant, quelques clichés mais finalement assez touchant dans sa dernière demi heure Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I already never liked childhood vacation movies, French summer vacation movies, really the whole vacation-movie genre. As for the "get dragged out to the sticks against your will and end up crying when it's time to leave" trope, it was *far* better deployed in "Bienvenue chez les Chtis" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1064932/). I guess I could've forgiven it all that and just considered it sweet, nostalgic fluff, except for the poor timing. You see, we're planning a vacation to Bretagne for far longer than I imagined could be interesting, and for 18 months, Alena's been carefully explaining to me what a beloved holiday destination it is and how fortunate we are; and now, with the plans all finalized (well, all except the actual plane tickets...), we see a movie half of which involves Parisians grumbling about what a stupid idea it was to go to Brittany. I may even end up having nightmares based on the scene when they all get impressed into service as casual farmhands pitching bales of hay in the summer heat...
